what the hell do we do now

Description
were winning. we shouldnt be winning. in fact this team might be designed to lose (see defence). nontheless we are winning. the facts remain; jake allen will do eveything in his power to kill this tank, 1422 are too good to lie down anymore, we need to be actively bad to counteract our youth instead of holding them back and hampering their development. the vets seem to have this down pat (savard) nontheless when we get healthy (matheson, eddy) we will be a mid-20s team if this level of play continues. yes the defensive metrics (shockingly) say otherwise, but we are prey to a malevolent and evil god, and the powers that be will do eveyrthing to stop us from getting what we want (matvei michkov at 7th overall bc hes under contract in the K until 2027). what is the answer to this? clean house. you thought petry chairot toffoli lehkonen were big losses last year? in hindsight they really werent seeing as three of them have been straight up bad since losing (lehky the saviour and my beloved remains elite) but this year will make that seem like childs play. say goodbye to every half decent peice over 27 years old beause we are designing this team to be cheap, young, bad, and most importantly, exciting.

  1. Petersen, Cal
  2. Turcotte, Alex
Additional Details:
obviously turcotte for allen is not fair, but the cap shenanigans get this sucker done. taking on the next three years of peteys five million dollar caphit for one year of allen at 1.4 and then a couple more at 3.(?) is big for a team with quite a few big RFAs coming up. i would be comfortable throwing a pick or two (outside of R1) in to put this one through if needed.

Anderson just isn't worth that. He just isn't. I wouldn't do Tippett for him 1-for-1, and despite what you may think of Fletcher, he's not trading our first for Anderson when he wasn't willing to do it for Gaudreau.

    MTL are winning !
They will lose the next 2 games and they will be at the bottom of the Atlantic ...
Y'all really think Suzuki and Caufield can carry this team for 82 games
Y'all really think Harris will remain that steady for 82 games
Guhle and Savard are getting run over, they are blocking shots, they are playing like we were in the playoffs
This team won't keep winning like they do right now
MTL will be a bottom 10 team before January 1st

Money debatably aside I'd do Tippett for Anderson 1-for-1, you're completely right about the 1st though. If he wouldn't do it for Gaudreau, you 100% better believe he won't do it for Josh Anderson

Lol, this is a new one.

No, absolutely not from LA. At least, not without the Philly 1st going to LA.

    1) LA isn't trading Turcotte without seeing what he can give them, which means getting him healthy and playing him as close to a full season as possible. If he's still not in their plans then, maybe he's looked at as a trade piece. But not while he's unhealthy and at the lowest value. Players in LA have a tendency to blossom late due to how the Kings develop them -- see: Kempe and Vilardi. They're going to give Turcotte every chance to have that same career path.

    2) Cal has struggled for sure, but Jake Allen hasn't proven to be much better. MTL is winning, but Allen still has a SV% just barely over 0.900. And he's not proven to be a #1 goalie anywhere he's gone.

To which I can only add:

    1) Add Quinton Byfield to the list of young forwards we're bringing along slowly.

    2) Petersen still has an upside; we've seen the best that Allen can produce.

Plus, saving $1.15 million in cap in each of years 2 and 3 isn't significant to us at all.
