Veleno and Söderblom are bona fide NHL-players and the three draft picks will also become NHL-players. Two years of Matthews when the team isn't ready to contend for a cup isn't worth giving up five players for.

NEWS FLASH, any team that potentially is getting in the lottery this year, isn't going to give up picks for 2 years of Matthews UNLESS that are in position to compete for a cup and lottery picking teams generally aren't. Look at all the talent in Toronto and they still can't get out of the first round for 6 years in a row with Matthews...LOL. That should be a lesson that one player, even the best, doesn't change the outcome for a lottery team.

Would you really want to trade 2 NHLers and 2 potential impact players for 2 years of, at best, getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs?
