Sorry not getting it done, and even if it was enough Habs still wouldn't do it.

Holtz or Mercer has to be included in a deal for Caufield. In this trade you're giving them 3 B-tier prospects and those picks - they need something stronger.

And even if you did swing a trade for Caufield, I can't see a world where he takes 5x$7M. He's either bridging for 2 or 3 years at that AAV, or he's going to be in the $8.5-9M ballpark.

Caufield is on pace for 54 goals over a season since MSL took over, this year his pace over 9 games is 60+ goals (he will slow down a bit but still likely hitting 30-40)

Not even sure the Habs would do Caufield for Hughes straight up.

EDIT: Jack Hughes

It takes even more than that my friend, Holtz + Mercer + 2 1sts minimum. Cole is currently out pacing Mathews for goals and goals over the course of the season

It's very unlikely he keeps shooting over 22% over the rest of the season, so I'd slow down my projections after 9 games - I mean, you could also say Evgeni Dadonov is on pace to score zero points over the rest of the season based on his current pace. Let's let Caufield have a full 82-game season where he plays at this level before you start saying he's worth the moon.

I think the value is on the Habs side but I think he’s probably “untouchable” in the eyes of Montreal management given his chemistry with Suzuki, he’s the first pure goal scorer they had in a long time, and how marketable he is for them.

Cole would probably love to be paired with his old buddy, but that will have to come in international duty.

(Same rule for Quinn).

OP edited the trade - when I replied I believe it was Muk/Stillman/Schmid + picks for Caufield (which is why I said Holtz or Mercer would have to be included)

What in the name of..?

Habs could add Slafkovsky to Caufield, Devils still don’t answer the call.

Holtz, Mercer, two 1sts….I mean, seriously. No one is even asking for that for anyone.

I literally said that he would slow down a bit see my previous quote below

what other player is on pace for 60+ goals this season? Also we don't want to move Caufield so you are going to have to convince us to do it.

Gabe Vilardi, Shane Pinto…it’s early.

Habs have no reason to sell Caufield. Also have no reason to ask for that level or return. Just say he is unavailable.

Everyone knows he is unavailable yet the OP still thinks he can trade Muk/Stillman/Schmid + 1st and a 3rd picks (I think it was) for Caufield. It was a ridiculous evaluation and deserved an equally ridiculous response.

Totally tongue in cheek! I was annoyed so I chose to annoy in return.
