Description
This team just dosen't look good right now. I think we could be in trouble. Roster is worse than last year honestly and all of Hextall's moves looking bad. Petrey Matheson trade was horrible, we need to get younger and we trade our young fast D for a regressing Petrey. Carter and Kapanen contracts just awful. I had my doubts about bringing back the core, but wasn't mad they did. Coaching I don't understand either. Sullivan constantly tries to play speed game. Can't hold a lead with his system. Should trap more often like we did game 3 against Rangers last year. I'm starting to think Hextall and Sully could be on hot seat soon. What do you all think?

I think 7 days ago Rangers fans were talking about going for bedard… leafs fans are too… pens will be now also… but 4 games and 4 wins later and the tune changes really quick! If they are in the same spot/looking worse in 30 days then worry about it… Sid can carry that team on his shoulders but he can’t win 82 games.

Man, Sid set Geno up perfectly in OT. How does he not score? Hampus Lindholm goes end to end Bobby Orr style. How ironic? There's something about this Bruins team.

Just my thought on the Pens. Too many contracts that don't have great value now and in the future. Plus not having many prospects that are NHL calibre. Just seems more of the same. About a 6th rated team in the East at best, looks like another first round exit.

Yup, I don't disagree. Tons of contract looking really bad right now and it's an old team trying to play a speed system. Bad roster management by Hextall too. Just not good

I think when Blueger comes back it will get better on the pk at least and a bit defensively on the bottom 6. I said at the time the Petry trade was bad and people tried to argue cause he played better under Marty but that wasn’t saying much. He’s taken a ton of terrible penalties leading to losses. 3 vs Montreal alone and 1 today which gave the bruins life after the pens scored 4 quick goals in the 2nd. I’d have kept Matheson cause that cost us cap space too. And honestly would have tried to trade MP over Marino. I know NJ was just looking for a defensive defenseman. I’d have tried to trade MP or Dumo for even just one of the assets that Marino got.
Dumo-Letang
Matheson-Marino
POJ-Rutta
Friedman-Ruhwedel

Or

MP-Letang
Matheson-Marino
POJ-Rutta
Friedman-Ruhwedel

Both of those just look better and faster than what they have now. Especially the second defensive set.

Yeah I like that second defensive set. I honestly maybe would've stuck with Ruhwedle instead of Rutta. Had even more cap space to upgrade forwards and bottom 6.

Rutta’s been solid though at least so I don’t hate that move as much right now. Didn’t like it in the offseason though lol.

Yeah he hasn't been bad at all. I just felt it wasn't super necessary and money could have been useful elsewhere. Overall though Hextall tried to revamp the whole D and it seems like the moves were for the worse. It was his whole offseason goal seemingly. I think he's done a very poor job so far

Just an aging core, with some complementary pieces that were one hit wonders (Zucker, Rakell, Kapanen). This team should've moved on from Kapanen if they weren't going to give him consistent time in the top 6. He has the speed and skill, I get his defensive game could be lackluster, but that's something Sid can overshadow pretty easily. While Carter is serviceable, you'd like your 3rd line center to provide a bit more energy than what he's offering at 37 years old.
