23 TDL

Created by: gopherit
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 2, 2022
Published: Nov. 2, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Let's face it, the Wild are not cup contenders and therefore should not even attempt to qualify for the playoffs. AND THATS FINE!!!!! Let this be our ONE down year. That's it, one down year and we're golden imo -- or more specifically, we lack a franchise center.

This team is too talented to rebuild. Plus, I'd rather wallow in mediocrity than have to deal with a toxic culture many have developed. We are 2-3 years out from becoming a true cup contender. Therefore, we should be sellers at the TDL. Most of the team are expected to participate in our long-term future and/or locked to NMV/NTC clauses. So only a handful can be traded.

imo, crazier things have happened leading up to TDL.

Jost does not do much for us, and Mitts looks good with the current coach and when he is healthy. Top 4 RD for us is a more pressing issue where Mittelstadt could be involved in trading.

PHI says sure why not? However, if Bellows is playing (and playing well) in the NHL by TDL, he probably gets better than a 7th round pick.

While its money for nothing, (Bellows picked up on waivers for free), if he plays well enough, his value is higher, maybe a 4th, maybe a 5th, maybe a 3rd?

I doubt NYR would pay a first for Hartman. Although I like the player and he is on a good contract with one more year to go.
But maybe, who knows...

Someone would but there’s no need to overpay for a C these days. Zibby, Troch, Chytil, Goody are already an amazing 1-4C. NYR is the wrong destination but value is probably fine

Yeah, I agree.
But a third line of Goodrow - Chytil - Hartman on paper would be interesting I am not sure I really need to see that gamble in real life.

I said this before they just need to trust what they have.

Why would Buffalo do that?

I can't see the Sabres doing that, not a question of value, just fit. As fjordy pointed out, moving mittelstadt for a right d makes some sense, moving mittelstadt for a winger who is going to get caught in a numbers game here, doesn't really make sense.

I don't hate any of these deals at all, I don't think the Rangers would be in on Hartman but maybe someone like EDM, TB or COL (Teams that need cheap players who can put up points with skilled forwards around them) The rangers have to many C's as is, so the asking price would probably be too much to put him on the wing.

Dumba deal is a no brainer IMO - he is playing on the 3rd pair, could either put Holl there or call up Sustr to be a PK guy, which he excels at.

I don't think that Buffalo would do that deal, but from the Wild perspective, I would absolutely do it.

I have also always liked Bellows, I don't know why we didn't claim him.

All that being said, I still think that this team makes the playoffs in a beyond shaky west and with Fleury starting to seem to be getting his stride back after the last couple games. It will be an interesting season and I don't think that any of these moves is overly detrimental to the teams chances of making the playoffs as they are all really just ancillary pieces, I see a wild card or 3rd in the central team with or without any or all of these trades.

Hartman would be a good pick up for the Rangers but not at that price. A 2nd round pick plus a B prospect maybe.
