Hawks decline this. Anthansiou is playing like a beast right now and he alone is likely worth a late 2nd, especially with 1/2 retained. McCabe is worth a 2nd or 3rd at worst.
Dumoulin has negative value point blank....a team can't trade a cap dump assuming there is perceived value arguing if the acquiring team retains half and flips him...not how it works. Further, the Hawks aren't going to have another retention spot to flip him (Kane, Toews, Domi, Athanasiou) and unlikely anyone wants him at $4.1M even for a 5th rounder. Kap isn't playing up to his $3.2M cap hit either so he at best has neutral value but could be seen as a cap dump, albeit smaller then Dumoulin.
You can now understand why this trade is off. Bottom line, that gets one you one of the players from the Hawks maybe but not both.
