I don't hate these moves at all. I think Petrey and Carter are also huge issues, as well as coaching/Hextall. But this would be a great start

Petry has shown good flashes (kings game). Coaching is bad. Carter hopefully retires or gets traded

I think Petrey has some hope. Coaching and management though I think might have to change at some point. They have to figure out the Carter issue too somehow, even though it's tough. I'm wondering if our system and coaching is just not helping the D at all or making it tougher for them. Seeing how Marino is playing so much better now, maybe it's the system thats the problem for some of them.

Hawks decline this. Anthansiou is playing like a beast right now and he alone is likely worth a late 2nd, especially with 1/2 retained. McCabe is worth a 2nd or 3rd at worst.

Dumoulin has negative value point blank....a team can't trade a cap dump assuming there is perceived value arguing if the acquiring team retains half and flips him...not how it works. Further, the Hawks aren't going to have another retention spot to flip him (Kane, Toews, Domi, Athanasiou) and unlikely anyone wants him at $4.1M even for a 5th rounder. Kap isn't playing up to his $3.2M cap hit either so he at best has neutral value but could be seen as a cap dump, albeit smaller then Dumoulin.

You can now understand why this trade is off. Bottom line, that gets one you one of the players from the Hawks maybe but not both.

No, you're still only paying for one player and Chicago would still say remove Dumoulin.

More reasonable would be....

AA (1/2 retained), McCabe = Kap, Dumoulin, + 2023 (or 2024) 1st

OR

AA (1/2 retained), McCabe = Kap, Dumoulin, + 2023 2nd + 2024 2nd (maybe that's accepted)

I don't think Dumoulin agrees to waive for Chicago anyway so it's a moot point.
