i think the only reason anyone wants hughes is because uniting the trio of hughes would be legendary (imagine playing against hughes cubed in OT, commentator's nightmare).
but if it starts with that then new jersey should forget it, and i dont think it starts with that

If Canucks were to trade Hughes it would be for Nemec, 2023 first (unprotected) and another medium asset

Any player is tradeable... the fans don't mean squat.
Edmonton fans never wanted Gretzky traded... Toronto fans never wanted Wendl Clark traded... St. Louis fans never wanted Adam Oates traded.
There is nobody who contributes to this forum who has an insight, any clue, or any understanding of what a GM is thinking or what a teams motivation is. Any declaration of "that's not happening" on the simple grounds that you cannot perceive of it... is simply myopic.

Exactly.
The derogatory responses on these threads are practically narcissistic they are so self serving... since the odds that any of our "fantasy" trades would ever be a reality are virtually ZERO. It's arrogant to assume that any of us could know the motivation, logic or reasoning of a GM.
So yeah... you might as well post that Mathews will be traded for a bag of cash because it's as equally reasonable prediction as any other.
