Detroit declines. Yzerman isn't trading a potential top 10 pick. Maybe top 5 even.

Idk, that’s a tough contract and the blues look like they’re gonna need more picks. I’d way rather Garland than Barbs though

Not interested. Yzerman isn't trading any of his best prospects.

Detroit declines very fast. It's been very bad luck losing Bertuzzi and very unfortunate losing Vrana due to personal issues. But that's no reason to have a knee jerk reaction and make a trade like this just to acquire more fire power in the short term. Horvat is a UFA after all. Detroit is not in a position to be trading 1st round picks away and won't be for any player unless they are a superstar. Bo Horvat is a good player but not a superstar.

Leafs decline, you are stuck with the Miller signing and you certainly aren't getting Nylander and Niemela for him. Even throwing in Muzzin doesn't make it balanced.

I would mostly be ok with this, but the problem is that Detroit has gotten off to a pretty bad start and its raised a lot of questions about where they are in their rebuild. Coming in to the season, I think a lot of ppl were thinking the team would be a lot more competitive this year and a playoff contender next year, but now its not so clear. Makes more sense for Horvat to go to a contender now, if he is to get traded.

Why is everyone pretending Detroit isn't missing Bertuzzi and Vrana? That's a big hit for any team. I didn't expect Detroit to be world beaters but you take away two top 6 forwards from any team and they're going to feel the impact. I'm not even mentioning Fabbri who we knew wasn't going to return until January.

I dont think the Garland contract is that bad especially if paired with a decent center. Blues need a scrappy guy up front since we lost Perron. I'd miss Barbashev's hitting, but Garland would be a solid pickup

Haha I can’t stand Barbashev so the quicker he’s gone the better

His defense is horrid but at least he hits. I'd do this trade in a heartbeat considering Garland does have 20 goal, 50 point talent on lesser teams. Plus cost controlled is a plus

mainly cause they were missing Vrana last year and Bert was missing random games due to his vax status. Plus the fact that they added Perron, Copp and Kubalik, improved their defense and goaltending and had two of the hottest rookies entering their sophomore seasons. Not to mention the new coach with a championship pedigree. And yet, they have looked completely mediocre if not all out bad in most of the games they have played.

Last year they were pretty competitive until the all-star break and their top line of Bert-Lark-Raymond was a legit scoring threat against any team. I haven't seen any line this year be consistently dangerous through the first 10 games.
