No, almost 5 years of a cost efficient RHD Carlo just can't be trading away for a maybe. Bruins are always in the win mode

No. Carlo is worth by himself more than that. His contract is gold by itself, that he is a top 4 shut down guy makes him more valuable, that a rival wants him makes the price so high it would be insane. Carlo’s value also increases with each cap increase.

Probably not. Why would Sweeney without some astronomically stupid offer trade Carlo top pair caliber RD on a really good contract for the next 4years after this one? Unless it's a deal soo good he can't turn it down. Carlo will only be 30 at the end of it.

he seems to be outside of the top 4 in boston in terms of minutes per games. so wouldn't it help them to shed that much cap space for a player that seems nonessential right know?

Part of that is getting hurt in the first period of a game. He’s for sure a top four d man in boston. Very essential. He played 24:36 in regulation last night.

But cmon, let’s use some logic here:
1. Boston and montreal, not trading partners.
2. Boston is in win now mode, why are they moving critical pieces off their roster for futures? Not a fit.
3. That value sucks! Top four D signed to a great deal with 5 years left? No thanks.

There doesn’t need to be a version 3. No shot. It’s just a ridiculously far fetched concept.

Why is Montreal trading a 1st round pick?

I wouldn't use that as the bar to determine how Boston uses/ values him. He's their pk shutdown horse and gets zero pp time. He's routinely called on to start in the d-zone because of his defensive prowess and a guy they like or there at the end of games to protect leads

He just didn’t realize he got hurt in the first period of a game, looked at the average, and just assumed he’s getting 17 minutes or whatever.
