I like this swap. Would be dependent on who can get who resigned but both these teams and both these players could use a change

I feel like Bertuzzi wouldn't resign but even if both guys did, the Canucks don't need to add another forward. Something like Suter/Bertuzzi+Hronek for Horvat+Poolman would probably suite their needs more.

Canucks don’t need a winger. We need picks, prospects, or RHD

Not the package Vancouver needs for Horvat. Detroit probably just keeps Bertuzzi rather than making this deal as well.

I think Detroit is the most likely destination for Horvat next year. Problem for Canucks fans is, Steve Yzerman happens to be one of the smartest hockey minds you're going to meet, and he knows spending assets on Horvat as a rental is a waste for him. Let someone else rent him, all Yzerman needs to do is keep the cap space free and swoop in on July 1. And I'd bet money that that's exactly what he does. Yzerman covers all his bases, and Horvat gives him one of the premier face-off men in the league.

The smart thing for Detroit to do is to offer up the draft capital to Arizona for Chyckrun and sign Horvat as a UFA. And as long as Yzerman stays out of BC, where hockey brains seemingly go to die, he'll do the smart thing.
