Agreed, unless Tolvanen's value has gone down the drain.

The Hawks say yes. AA was likely brought in with the understanding that he'll be dealt at the TDL. You could probably keep Eeli and still make it a 3rd/4th and they'll consider it. A 2nd is a done deal.

I was actually afraid of underpaying. But point taken and I'll update it.

I think anyone NSH has right now has had their value diminish. And I would want to keep Tolvy but I want someone who can score more than him, and skate faster.

Fair enough, AA might not end up working out but I'm going to assume Tolvanen is worth at least a 2nd, so him + a 3rd (or maybe even just a 4th) should be enough.

I’d rather not trade away multiple picks for a middle 6 UFA when NSH is playing as poorly as they are right now

Yeah, I agree. I'm just worried that we have all this talent now and not capitalising on it will leave us without talent come the TDL and FA

I don’t think AA is the missing piece though— NSH has Tomasino they could just call up or not scratch Tolvanen all the time. I don’t see the need for AA and don’t see him as a fit for Hynes’ system. If anything, Hynes needs to go before they can truly improve.

I wouldn't be too worried about a huge dip in NSH's player values just yet. Tovy is still only 23, still protected by RFA expiry status, has a very friendly cap hit, and is technically only in his second full NHL season. He has also shown enough to be a fairly valuable trade chip if NSH decides to go that direction. So, yeah, keeping him in that trade would've been an overpay for AA at this particular point in time.
