Poor Don Sweeney getting blame but this was Cam Neely.

The entire organization should shamed.

Ya I'm under this impression as well. Sweeney's press conference seemed like a reiteration of how much he knows that this signing is a mistake, and nothing about what he saw good in Miller's hockey skills that would prompt him to do this signing. Which is very uncharacteristic of Sweeney when talking about prospects, he's usually loathing about them.

And the fact that Neeley himself released a formal statement regarding the signing and seemingly taking the initiative to personally help this kid get into programs to better himself is very abnormal.

However, he was a kid when it happened. Hopefully he's matured.

There is exactly zero evidence he has matured.

Whether or not you agree that everybody deserves a second chance and somebody who was a terrible person at 14 can become a respectable, responsible adult, this was not the Bruins’ problem. Why did they decide to make it their problem? Is this guy really that talented?

Let’s face it, when a team makes a decision like this, they’re assessing the potential upside versus the downside of bringing somebody with this kind of history into the organization. It may not be fair or just, but it’s true. If his probable ceiling is the AHL or even third pair NHL, it seems to me that there’s enough of those kind of prospects around that they should have been able to find one without the baggage.

If this kid isn’t the next Bobby Orr, what a stupid signing… and so stupid to throw these bad vibes/media attention when you’re playing so well and trying to give your life long bruins another shot at a cup. Now bergy is doing stupid interviews about some low life on SN instead of trying to focus on hopefully one of the best season of his career. Give your head a shake.

I'm sorry but you should read more about Miller and you will understand that he is well past 4th and 5th chances.

He didnt just bully one person once, it was repeated and even after he plead guilty in court the judge made a point to point out that in the judge's opinon Miller had shown zero remorse for his actions.

Playing in the NHL should be privilege and he should have lost his.

Sadly, the NBA is currently dealing with crap like this and the NFL is no different given its recent history.

He was 14 years old.
I am not defending his actions at all.
But I think he deserves a chance to redeem himself as an adult.

Still hasn't done anything to make up for it.. and now he's 21.

The only time he's made an attempt to apologized is when it benefitted him,

- Right before NHL Draft
- Right before Boston signed him

I'm just happy Bettman said no to the NHL and I'm hoping the AHL follows suit here soon

I think its a slippery slope if we start banning people for something they did as a teen.

And "not remorseful enough" is a frightening, open-ended standard that should not have permanent consequences.

It's not even "Not remorseful enough"

He's done nothing. The judge said he wasn't remorseful, he's done 0 community service with minorities or disabled communities. Until he does that, he won't even sniff the NHL, and Bettman confirmed he does have somewhat of a heart.
