If this team can get healthy, they are a sleeper. Anderson would be a great fit on the caps i think.

Check your facts, he is in most trade offers only because he is the only player with decent value rn

my facts are checked. hes not worth more than a 2023 1st. I personally really like the guy and think hes on a great deal. Montreal fans seem to think otherwise. I guess he doesnt contribute enough for his 5.5 mil cap hit. Most habs fans ive heard from would take that deal and run for the hills.

Facts? lol

He has averaged 38 pts per 82 games in Montreal (36 pts per 82 career wise)

He has a 5.5 AAV for 5 years

Who in their right mind would pay a 1st for a bloated contract?

Look at Bjorkstrand last summer, 5.4 AAV x 4 years, immensely superior player traded for a 3rd and a 4th

No chance the Caps trade their chance at Bedard for taking on this contract.

No.

There is more than just him with decent value. In fact many on here seem to think he's worthless for some reason.

And most Habs fans would not take that and run for the hills. We want him, we like him. Fairly certain the ask is about a 1st & at least a B prospect for Hughes to even consider it.

I like him and i think hes very valuable. I guess ive just heard and seen more from montreal fans about not wanting him which i dont understand at all. When i mean most habs fans i mean the ones who dont want him on the team for whatever reason, so if they could get a 23 first, then that group would be ecstatic. Hes such a diverse player and hes on a great contract, makes no sense to trade him unless you could get a bigger package for him. but when im talking about this group, who im learning now is just the minority, if they could get just a first then they would be happy with that because THEY dont value him highly

Anyone judging Anderson only for his points doesn't know anything about hockey.

You're right. What a beast defensively. 5.5 AAV is such a bargain for 38 points (IF healthy) and solid 2-way hockey

He's a glorified Colin Greening, not as good defensively though

It's true that it doesn't reveal the sport as much as it does for baseball but it still a reveals a good portion. These stats will tell you that Jaccob Slavin is good and that Nikita Zaitsev is bad for example... so don't be so quick to discard them if you don't want to be in denial.

According to the same advanced stats, Caufield is a 50% WAR. Caufield is a bad player?

He was a pretty bad player until Martin St. Louis took over, best thing that could ever happen to him. He has been very dangerous since. Coaching actually impacts players a lot

These numbers are the last 3 years average so it looks at Caufield whole career. If you specifically look at the last few months, night and day

Anderson had a terrible season 3 years ago coming back from a big injury. Last year the whole team was bad. If you take out those 2 seasons, Anderson actually have decent numbers for a guy who doesnt carry the puck and barely plays on the PP

I like Anderson and would take him on my 3rd line any day of the week. But IMO he shouldn't be in the top-6 of a contender. There's too many elements of a Top-6 forward's game (like passig, for example) where he is comfortably below average. Which is reflected in his results (basic stats and advanced stats)
