3 blockbusters

Created by: Reason
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 4, 2022
Published: Nov. 4, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I haven't flip flopped from thinking this team is a contender to needing a rebuild, I have consistently said for years that this team needs a reset even if they could make the playoffs they will go no where with that defense.
With the additional 10 million in cap space, the team could also take on bad contracts that expire at seasons end for additional picks.
Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Murray, Matt
  2. Niemelä, Topi
  3. Robertson, Nicholas
  4. 2023 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Costs more than a 1st to move Murray. Here they get the goaltending piece that should give them a legitimate shot at the cup.
TOR
  1. Demko, Thatcher
  2. Schenn, Luke
Additional Details:
Would take a lot to move Demko. Hate to see Demko leave but if the team were to reset they are probably 3-4 year away from contender status, which would put Demko at 30-31.
2.
VAN
  1. Wallstedt, Jesper
  2. 2023 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Canucks get a goalie of the future after trading Demko.
MIN
  1. Horvat, Bo ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Horvat extends with MIN.
If cap is an issue, a cap dump with additional pick could be included in the deal.
3.
VAN
  1. Räty, Aatu
  2. 2023 1st round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
I know NYI are high on Raty but I feel the value is more than fair here.
NYI
  1. Miller, J.T.
Additional Details:
NYI were interested in Miller at the draft if he could be extended, he is now extended at a reasonable rate.

Horvat extended isn't worth a prospect as your still trading him as a rental. Trade doesn't work like that. Minnesota doesn't need Horvat. Under no circumstances are wild trading wallstedt. Well you got the reaction, it's not happening. Minnesota got a b prospect for fiala. Joel Eriksson ek is better than Horvat. Minnesota doesn't pay 1st round picks or prospect Under Guerin and Judd brackett

Bet it felt nice to give the reaction you were clearly waiting for. My favourite type of Cap Friendly trash talker, the kind that sits on the sidelines just waiting to whine when they don’t have a single AGM to their name. Create one with at least one blockbuster bud, see the reactions you get.

Seems you are the one whining and getting angry because you can't just accept a No. You know the proposal was a bait, unreasonable and unrealistic. If you don't want Wild fans reaction, you shouldn't have done it

I agree that his overall value is likely lower because I think there will be less overall parties interested, I disagree that he has “very little value” after signing a reasonable extension.
The NYI had a deal in place for Miller at the draft but backed out because they couldn’t talk contract extension with him, that deal was rumoured to be a 1st +. Raty is a good prospect but he’s not an elite prospect. The most recent NHL affiliated prospect ranking I can find is from Daily Faceoff and has him ranked as the 56th best affiliated prospect.
I think the value is fair, a 1st and good prospect, and the interest should be there now (unless Lou has soured on the Canucks management team) that the contract has been extended and the NYI didn’t have any major additions this off-season, especially when they were trying hard to add.

Miller's contract is an Albatross. If it was 3-4 years fine those last 4-5 years are going to age like milk sitting out in 90° weather
