Mitts, Rosen, and a 2nd isn't getting a Kane deal done.

23' first is a must in any Kane trade.
Gibson and Karlsson would be extremely risky moves that could potentially kill any progress that Buffalo has made. Karlsson being the most unnecessary trade for Buffalo with dahlin and power.

Gibson's stats for the last 3-4 years look bad, no thanks.

My Dear Friend: Yes, for the past 3-4 seasons, especially the start of this one, Gibson's stats have been dreadful -- not "bad", DREADFUL -- but he's still a decent goalie. Of the first 30 goals he gave up (I didn't watch the 8-goal debacle), I thought that he could have -- could, not "should have" -- stopped 3 of them. The rest were due to the terrible defense around (never in front of) him. Sometimes I despair so hopelessly about this team that I wish that the Ducks would trade him to Colorado and let him win a few Stanley Cups, because for his sufferings, he deserves them.

(I didn't watch the 8-goal debacle

Honestly it was an easier game to watch than the Sharks one before it. Going in I expected a loss because this team has a 0.002 percent chance of winning three in a row. Their mental makeup is so fragile that when what was clearly goalie interference didn't get enforced and that goal stood plus the goal in the awarded power play for a failed challenge it was all over.

My take away from that game was on the Canucks side. Their defense might be worse than the Ducks, it's certainly just as bad. Their PK is definitely worse and that's saying A LOT. They clearly have more talent up front though.

Back to Gibson, I just don't know any more. Sure he's seeing more pucks than any other goalie by far but statistically the Ducks are middle of the pack in both scoring chances against and high danger scoring chances against at 5on5. He is making at least three crazy stand on your head saves every game and in spite of that his GAA and SV% are absolute trash. I can't see any NHL GM wanting to pay assets for him right now.

I watched the 8 goal debacle. One was empty net, one was the most blatant goalie interference I have ever seen (especially so shortly AFTER the Ducks had the goal against Toronto pulled back). I will say of the other 6 he let in, one he should have had, one he could have had, the rest no goalie in the league were getting. I feel so bad for the guy, he is getting ripped apart because the Ducks cannot stop a single cross ice pass below the dots. His defense never ties up the guys in front of the net, so its redirection galore. One of the goals, Kuzemenko sat right next to the far post and took a pass/shot and just tapped it in, because NO ONE WAS ON HIM.

Gibson is one of the few goalies in the league that's still playing a bit of an old school style, Campbell, Quick, and the Flower are others that come to mind. That style makes for spectacular 10 bell saves night in and night out that a butterfly goalie would not make, but none of those guys are huge by the standards of today with 6'6"+ goalies being the new "big" guys. These guys are much more susceptible to redirects and bouncing pucks getting past them due to being physical smaller, and wearing smaller, lighter gear to make those fantastically athletic stops. Even if we put a Blocking/Butterfly goalie of the same caliber in for Gibson, I don't know that his numbers look much different, that is how bad the Ducks Defense has been.

Here is the breakdown of the debacle
1 Redirect over shoulder
2 Petterson left alone 5 feet from net, maybe should have had this one
3 Cross crease pass off of rebound
4 How was this not goalie interference, he pushed Gibson half way across the crease
5 Shot pass redirect, blown D coverage
6 Redirect, again
7 Kuzemonko breakaway, probably should have had this one
8 Empty net goal

Eh, what? Isak Rosén is 19 years old and was picked #14 OA, essentially 13th OA because Arizona´s pick was forfeited that year. Mittelstadt is 23 years old, picked #8 OA, 8 points in 12 games this season, but of course, a major disappointment, and Buffalo's 2nd rounder is way better than Toronto's 3rd in this scenario lol. Also, Buffalo doesn't need Chicago to retain. Engvall, (Joey?) Anderson and a 3rd is NOT even close to the value of Rosén, Mittelstadt, and Buffalo's 2nd lol.
