Parayko and Tank

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 5, 2022
Published: Nov. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Parayko would need to waive. Tarasenko extends 8m x 6 years.

Leafs get a big top pair dman and a pending UFA top 3 winger.

St Louis get a 1st, a top winger signed for 3 years and a pending ufa dman.

I like the look of this team substantially more than what we have now.

why would the Blues trade for futures?
Engvall is Waiver level .. not getting a retained asset for him

Why would Montreal want Engvall?

Monahan, with retention is costing you more than Engvall and a 2nd.

Engvall is strictly for cap purposes in that trade. Monahan half retained for a 2nd round pick and cap to even things out. Seems quite fair to me. Players are added for cap purposes in trade, mid season all the time.

I didn't view Engvall as an assest in that trade. He is strictly cap purposes. 2nd for Monahan seems more than fair in my mind.

And the Blues get Marner in that trade. Who is by no means a future. He is the best player in the trade.

Don't think the blues do this as it destroys our D. We would then have to make another trade for a top pairing D which there isn't many available. This really doesn't fit the blues needs

I view Monahan, as his current game, presuming it continues, to be worth a 2nd at full salary, a B-level prospect or a 4th-5th for salary retention, IMO that extra little piece is missing to round it out, I think there will be demand for Monahan as the season moves on. It's not far off, i just think there's a little more that needs to be added given the possible demand for him.

(now I wait for the "he was dumped with a 1st rd pick, he has no value" people to @ me)
