I predict that he's going to be even better than Toronto fans hope.

well i mean i dont think theres a way to say no because they quite literally had no other goalies available to play in the system... so they needed someone to back Kallgren up

I have always been a massive fan of Petruzelli. I was really hoping they would sign him when DET couldn’t come to an agreement with him. After posting excellent number in his first season with the Growlers, did have a poor showing in the playoffs, he has come out on fire again leading the Marlies and posting some impressive numbers:
6-0-0
2.32 GAA
0.922 SV%

For me he has starters potential and will be an great stop gab till Samsonov is healthy.

It wouldn't have been an issue if the league had extended that 90 player reserve and contract allotment. The whole idea is that you're able to ice the best possibles but if you're hampered by a number (yes that includes Sal Cap) then it will restrict movement. They had to move Aube-Kubel to get the goalie.

There's absolutely no reason why Petruzzelli should've waited this long for an ELC. I've loved watching him since the beginning, and I'm really happy that he's finally gonna get his chance.

Does anyone know: Why Yzerman let him walk as a 3rd rounder?

Or did Petruzzeli just choose NCAA x 4 years for UFA status?

Regardless, Yzerman has done well finding young goalies:

- Husso (27) for a 3rd rounder
- Nedeljkovic (26) for a 3rd
- Gylander (21) in the 7th
- Bednar (20) in the 4th
- Cossa (19) in the 1st

Cossa + Husso should be a strong tandem for a long time.

Murray looks way ahead off schedule, per Yahoo. He's expected back at practice on Tuesday. At least until he gets hurt again.

Hopefully for the Leafs his game translates.

They are due for some good fortune in nets.

When u see a bad take like this got to ask why

How does signing a guy who deserved an NHL deal show any signs of desperation

The fact of the matter is Petro deserved the deal and now will be our backup

Dubas could have went out spent a pick and got someone but instead we had a goalie in the AHL who was doing very well and so he rewarded him. And this was a guy Yzerman let get away

So next time pls check the facts before posting

Not a nice thing to say hoping for a goalie to get hurt or expecting it to happen

He's on my fantasy team. Why would I want him hurt? When did I say I wanted him hurt? Read more carefully, please. But, look at his history. How could you not at least plan for the possibility?

Hes on mine to wink

I got a feeling hes gonna give us 30 games which honestly is all we need rn in the sense that Sammy has clearly taken the job. That is unless Murray goes 2017 mode and just decimates the league with a 0.930 SV

They lost Aube Kubel before they had to worry about signing a goalie

Also, who didn't know that they really need a goalie? If anything this signing makes it easier for Dubas to make a deal from an even playing field because he doesn't NEED a goalie as desperately.

Overall, Kallgren is a fine #3 and Murray is expected back potentially this coming week so there was no need for Dubas to say go to VGK and say here's a 4th for Brossoit or something like that (which would have been an overpay)

Instead he rewarded someone whose proved he can potentially be something special in a few years and im all for it

Exactly. Buddy had a truly terrible take.

I'm all for a little anti leaf propaganda. But to just vote no on every Leaf move is just lazy. 😋
