Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Karlsson, Erik ($5,500,000 retained)
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
San Jose has proven that they are willing to retain long term and that right now quanity>quality; this gets them a top 7 goalie prospect in the NHL, a top 6 young player, really solid prospect and two 2nds (2024 BUF 2nd is conditional and moves into first round if Buffalo makes round two or later). That Philly 2nd is like 40th OVR lets say
SJS
  1. Kulich, Jiri
  2. Olofsson, Victor
  3. Portillo, Erik [Reserve List]
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (PHI)
  5. 2024 2nd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
There will be people on both sides against this. But here is the deal, Buffalo gets a #1RD to fill out an INSANE top 4. He is only making 6 mil and yes I get that on the back end it wont be great, but you have to attack right now. Take advantage of Power's ELC and then Savoie, Quinn, Levi, etc all making so little over the next 4 years. EK is an elite defenseman, top 5-10 RD right now. This is not an overpay for the caliber of player that he is imo. If you have a big issue then take out one of the 2nds
2.
BUF
Explaining the Andersen signing: You get a year of Comrie backing him up and Levi in the AHL, if he does well enough you promote him. Then you have Levi play a year behind Andersen then he takes over.
    SJS
    3.
    BUF
    1. 2024 2nd round pick (MTL)
    Additional Details:
Out of conference. Not sure his value but he has no room on this team

    UPL > Freddie Anderson
Also that's the best top 4 in the league maybe the best in 10 years if each player plays at there peak abilities.

UPL sucks in the AHL and is good in the NHL. His AHL play is worrisome. Like forgetting about his start this year, he posted a 3.28 GAA and .900 sv% in 35 games last year... Levi is a future star IMO and Andersen is quietly having a great year and a half in Carolina.

Holding onto UPL wouldnt be a bad idea IMO, but Buffalo shouldnt run UPL-Levi, have UPL struggle and force Levi into a starting role too quick.

Not a chance I give that up for Karlsson: Kulich is untouchable, and not interested in moving Olofsson

Abilities of dahlin and power, I wouldn’t gamble that hard even at 24 million, will be interesting what would come to Buffalo as a ufa now that they are so close. I wonder if kane wants to go home, and who’s in the ufa d market, without the need for 1 or 2 dman they can go a bunch of different ways at 3/4, they longtermed 3 or 4 in Samuelson, so they can find the right 4 from within or buy whoever they want in free agency and not lose the draft capital and farm system in trade. Quite a start to this squad, hopefully they manage the cap well enough to maintain it.

Rochester's Defense is playing in Buffalo rn. The 2nd best Dman left in Rochester, Laaksonen, was out Saturday too. I've been dissuaded by his numbers but when he comes up to Buffalo and plays well, that's probably an indicator of the team he's behind in the A

So the one thing that became clear with EK65 playing with Burns over the years is that it doesn't work having so many cooks in the kitchen. I think EK65 is redundant or at least takes too much time from Dahlin and Power. It'll complicate who is quarterbacking the PP and taking rippers from the blueline for goals and deflections.

San Jose isn’t retaining that much money for such a low return

Not a move a young team like Buffalo should be making this season, we aren't a true playoff contender yet. Maybe next season when we've developed enough and we can start to spare our surplus prospects. But no chance in heck we trade Kulich and highly doubtful we'd target such an expensive and aging player, especially one with injury history.

    Karlsson trade is ridiculous
1- we shouldn’t be giving all that up for him
2- he has 5yrs left on his deal, so we should have zero interest (even at half price)
3- we need a solid DEFENSIVE partner for Power, not an offensive guy

Forget what I said, i was thinking Jack Campbell and not Freddie.

i like UPL a lot, but if they did really want a vet then this would be a viable option
