I guess the question I raise is whether or not the blueline would really look all that different. Essentially Weegar is in, Brodie is never signed I would think.

It's an upgrade sure, but beyond the first pairing, I think the Leafs are in the same spot.

They should’ve with Muzzin-Ceci the whole season and also Muzzin-Lyubushkin in the playoffs. Pure shutdown guys with Rielly don’t work, and whatever pair Rielly’s on can’t be given any defensive responsibility.

It's unfortunate the Leafs never capitalized on the tremendous talent of Garret Sparks.

Yes, the leafs are looking for a physical mid-priced RD like Lyubushkin. So instead of trading Holl and spending an extra 750k you could have had Lyubushkin, great management. It's like Shannahan was neutered after he retired, he hires Waldo to run his team and he builds a team of Waldo's. Skilled guys are fine not fighting or being hard hitters, but the role players need to pick up the slack. Engvall, Kerfoot, Jarnkrok, Kampf, Bunting, Brodie, Holl and Malgin, not one of these guys makes the other team think they need to keep their head up or move the pick quickly because a big check is coming.

This is ass & that Weegar trade is a complete lie, multiple picks & other pieces were involved not just Johnsson & Dermott

The issue with all these guys is that they can be physical but the way Keefe deploys them forces them into situations in which they end up trying to make skilled plays instead of simple forecheck based hockey. Whenever Holl or Engvall get deployed against skilled players, they are much more effective. Same with Lyubuskin, he would've been way more effective if he was deployed with Muzzin instead of Rielly.

Ceci was not used properly in Toronto, a bit like in Ottawa under Boucher

He's a guy that has to be used properly, coaching has to be smart about it and that's what Pittsburgh and Edmonton did
