Avs would decline, unless they are getting a young establish top 6 fwd, girard for potential doesn’t really do much

I don't know that Girard is who I'd go for personally. Dude gets injured a ton... we already have that problem in DC. Don't hate the trade itself though

I would agree with you, would need someone higher end than McMichael and an AHL tweener.

There is a conversation to be had on how the cost for Girard changes if the Avs aren’t taking back any salary (like this proposal). Personally, I wouldn’t trade Girard. But with next season’s cap situation I would understand if the team feels like they have to reshuffle the deck.

That’s just not true. At one point he was the Avs iron man.

Offseason Avs could do a more potential based return for him, in season it would have to be impact for impact player. Opening up cap space is worthless inseason

That’s a flat out lie. He does not get injuries a ton

Agreed, I was looking at this as an offseason move. My bad.

In season, you prob don’t want to move out your #3D before a cup run.

Yup. No reason to actively weaken the roster, now if there was a dubios level fwd in season available, you listen if they are interested in girard

If Girard is moved, it's in the off-season (like those who mentioned it above).

COL just shipped out their last project player in Jost and is dealing with their current project player in Kaut. McMichael looks like another project player we don't have time for.

If Girard gets moved (which I believe should be Toews moving instead), it has to net a young top 6F.

I might be mixing him up with someone else, I dunno. For some reason that was my impression of him, my bad
