Small deadline

Created by: NHLfan10506
Team: 2022-23 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 8, 2022
Published: Nov. 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don’t want to give away a big part of our future. So keeping this one small.

Our needs:

1) Goaltending. Stolarz is from Jersey. Not sure who else is out there…

2). A big forward who can help in front of net, Bear crease. JVR is recovering from broken finger, but fits that need. I think Bertuzzi, Meier will be more expensive than I’d like. I am open to suggestions here. Maybe Engvall? Athanasiou?

(Although NJD and PHI historically don’t trade often, here they do. Use your imagination).
Trades
1.
ANA
  1. Shlaine, Artem [Reserve List]
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (NJD)
2.
PHI
  1. 2024 5th round pick (NJD)
3.
TOR
Another 3LW option. Not sure the price. Fitzy would probably like the size/speed combo.
    4.
    CHI
Not sure how he looks this year, but could also fit As potential winger option if Chicago falls off.

Engvall is big and fast but not physical at all.

Don’t need physicality…one thing our guys do well is hold onto the puck. We just need a big with good hands who can play near crease.

We'd take this deal, but would you consider trading Bahl for Stolarz?

Engvall is just a worse Zacha.

Fitz also just had an interview where he said he doesn't like deadline rentals. Wants hockey trades.

I don’t think so as Bahl is close to taking Smith job on 3rd pair. Maybe Okhotiuk, who is more physical dman, with more ‘safety first’ puck skills.

      Or maybe Bahl for Stolarz/Kulikov…

(That said, our GM recently told ESPN reporter that he is not buying rentals).

He just signed in Nash but, what about Niederreiter?

I saw that. Wonder who he is talking about.

(Although, a short-term goalie option may be needed)

Engvall - it’s more of a reactionary choice to what’s cheap on market.

If its at the deadline, I could see moving Kulikov. He has been good for us defensively in my opinion (getting burned a lot, but when you have to cover for Klingberg, **** happens)

I just really want that 6'5" bulldoze guys from the crease type defenseman.

Mid round pick for Engvall makes sense, maybe a 4th?

      Oh, duh. My mistake.

For some reason I thought you were saying Riley Nash signed in NJ.
