Parayko is a phenomenal player, but I have two problems with this trade.

Why would St. Louis do this?

In the position they're in, Ottawa should not be trading first round picks away.

It seems some feel Blues are going to blow things up, unlikely but a possibility. We may need to add more sure.

Yeah, St. Louis might blow it up and trade everyone away but the one guy they will never trade is Parayko.

Looking at NHL standings,

30. Ottawa
31. St. Louis

Hard to see these teams doing a deadline deal with one another.

Uhh no. You've barely paid them just to take Zaitsev, who they have no use for.

Remove Zaitsev from here, it will disrupt perception value from fans

Zaitsev is gone to the AHL then will be bought out after the season anyway, no need to do anything else in his case

I wonder what Parayko value really is...

I'm interested because poor Chabot needs a partner but Parayko is also signed at 6.5 AAV x 8 years and comes with a risk

His advanced stats have dropped significantly the last few years

The Blues are probably going to sell some stuff off but I'm pretty skeptical Parayko will be one of the pieces going. The Blues just handed him an extension, he has a full NTC, and I think even if they sell they're not going to be entering "full rebuild" zone- likely just acquiring some draft picks and getting younger. In that case Parayko makes sense to stay. The Blues would likely see it as more valuable to keep Parayko rather than swing at a couple of mid-tier prospects and (presumably if Ottawa is a buyer) a late first.

IDK I feel with Parayko Ottawa at best finishes as a bubble team that loses in the 1st round. It's 2023-2024 and beyond where Ottawa will really be a lot better (If they get a proper coach that is).

I added Greig and WSH's 2nd rounder. IDK I feel Parayko would be amazing for the Sens.

I think a big portion of that is his partner and taking more tougher assignments after Pietrangelo was gone. Pietrangelo took on some of the most difficult assignments in the league on the Blues. Chabot-Zub and Sanderson-Parayko rotating with even minutes could benefit Parayko a ton.

Late response but I was sick

I'd have Chabot with Parayko if we were to get him, he's exactly what he has needed for 5 years
