I’d be disappointed with that return as a Canucks fan. Horvat is one of the best goal scorers in the NHL right now. I’d want Newhook and a 1st minimum

Even if Horvat were a pure rental for the Avalanche, That is pure garbage for Vancouver. Other teams would offer Vancouver competitive packages for a 2C like Bo Horvat.

Somewhat different. Lehkonen wasn't a rental.

You're not happy with a Cup win and a bust prospect given up like Barron?

Certainly not what I said. I said different circumstances. Humorous that you consider a 20 year old D a bust though.

COL just isn’t moving roster players out. Right now they have 2 top 6 forwards out a regular bottom 6 forward out a complete menagerie of a 4th line and 2 dmen out. They don’t move high end assets for rentals. Horvat is killing it no doubt but COL isn’t doing that.

The only "high end asset" is the late first round pick

Exactly the only pick they have in the first 4 rounds of the 22 and 23 drafts. COL just isn’t doing that for a pure rental. Horvat has big value right now not disputing that. But COL isn’t trading prime assets for pure rentals, and let’s be honest the chances of COL re-signing Horvat if they traded for him would be slim to none.

I don't think the avs are the right trade partner for Bo. Newhook and Byram aren't going to be available and they don't really have the assets outside of that. Because of their lack of high end prospects they'd probably have to start the offer with both the 2023 and 2024 1st round picks. Highly doubt they do that.

3 defenceman more inexperienced than him made the Habs without half the hype from Avs fans, Barron got sent to the minors. You call that progress?

I call it funny that you think he's a bust on that evidence. Bloody hilarious tbh. tears of joy Shows an absolute total complete and utter lack of knowledge about Barron or about how to develop young players. Fortunately for him and the Canadiens you're not involved with their organisation.

you can keep him for his 8m+ asking price then, its not avs fans who are chomping at the bit for Horvat here

Literally every Avs fan on here hated the Lehkonen trade price? Howd that work out?!

we still dont like the price. Doesnt mean it's not a good trade for the avs in the long run. They had to over pay to pry him out of Montreal bc they didnt want to move him.

That is a big difference than Horvat who is a pending UFA that all signs are pointing he has to be traded bc he cant be extended in Vancouver, teams are not goign to be bending over backwards to over pay in a trade for him and then figure out how to spending 8m+ on an extension for him, the speculated ask from his side. No thank you

This is a terrible deal for the canucks and that's from a flames fan.

A late first and Newhook is pretty close. Horvat is a legit 2C that would fit really well into the Avs given need and age.
Newhook is a good player but far from a slam dunk and may never be what Horvat already is. The first will be late.

Yes. Cause you are involved in the Avs decisions. You post asinine statements and i challenge them with reason, continue on with the conjecture.

LMFAO. Never said I was involved in the Avs decisions, but at least I'm talking about a team and players I do know something about! No asinine statements other than on your end showing a total lack of understanding of how development works, calling young, talented players busts that you know pretty much zero about, and commenting on organisations you very obviously know nothing about. Try doing some reading and research on Barron, his development, what the Habs are trying with him, what they're planning to do in Laval. It's actually quite informative. Maybe you'd find it interesting, you might then ACTUALLY be using some reason and logic in any challenge you want to make, and then maybe we can have a realistic debate about it.........and in case you hadn't realised all of Armchair GM stuff is pretty much conjecture ya muppet! tears of joy

It's a terrible deal for the Avs. The cupboard is bare in Denver and trading 2 of your best assets (that are realistic for trade discussion purposes) for a rental is not smart at all. I mean, I get as a Flames fan you'd want the Avs to do it and weaken themselves for the future but really? Horvat may well get more from somewhere, if someone is mad enough, OR can re-sign him (that's the biggest issue, the Avs can't, any more than they could sign Kadri), but it most certainly shouldn't be from Colorado.

I'm just talking about value. The value is fair. If the Av's don't want to do it given long term cap considerations then fine, but that doesn't change the value of the trade. That is what Horvat should be worth.

For sure if you could afford to re-sign him it's not unreasonable. For Horvat as a rental I'd disagree.
