Caps can just keep Milano to play the same role as Kerfoot would, and not have to pay a 2nd and take on an extra 2.75 mil.
capsfan2121, NoVaSpartan and MVC liked this.

Hard no on the Caps trade. Milano is Kerfoot with more finish and a lesser cap hit.

-I'm sure Josh Brown is a nice guy, but he is basically Worse Justin Holl. Why are you giving up this many assets for him?

-I can see the Blues taking this if they're out of contention at the deadline. Doesn't matter at that point if they have a worse LD3 in Benn, it'd be worth moving up in the draft and getting a random flyer in Gogolev for a pending UFA in Mikkola.

-Circling back to the first trade - Justin Holl > Joshua Brown. The only difference is Holl costs about $875K more, which is a moot point if Muzzin is LTIR the rest of the season. The two trades you made around RD3 are basically turing Justin Holl, SDA, a 3rd, & a 7th into Josh Brown and a 5th. That's way too much value to give up to save less than $1M in cap space.

-I just don't think the cap works for the Caps here. Kerfoot is probably a better player than Milano (more versatile and better defensively at least) but the difference in cap hit tips this in Milano's favor. Washington passes.

-Isles say thanks for the free 7th rounder, he's your problem now. Both of these guys are probably longshots for the NHL, so I don't know why Toronto would make this deal. But sure, Isles accept.
