Team: 2022-23 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 10, 2022
Published: Nov. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
8 game losing streak. Is Nikita Zaitsev that big of a liability. Everyone expected the Sens to contend for a playoff spot at least, and it doesn't look like it's happening at all so far. It's still early enough that they can turn it around. I had them finishing as the first team out of the playoffs. (I had the 8 East teams from last year make the playoffs this year)

They need a top 4 RHD and toughness. Savard would be a good fit.

feel like their situation is pretty similar to the canucks except they went through an actual rebuild and have younger players. Have good offensive LHD, forward group that looks really good on paper, absolutely terrible RHD though. NJ was basically in the same situation last year but all they did was add Marino, a solid RHD, and now they are one of the best even without Palat. Although Calgary has probably the best defence in the league and they aren't great. Also the sens lost Norris which is a big hit, I wouldn't expect them to perform amazingly without him, he was expected to be a 30-40 goal scorer this year.

Yeah, very tough to be a Ranger fan, lol. Trouba declared he only wanted to be traded to the Rangers. Adam Fox wouldn’t sign with any other team than Rangers. Artemi Panarin signed for free and turned down even bigger money from Isles and Florida. They were miraculously gifted two draft lottery wins when they weren’t even near the bottom of the league, so happy that #2 Kakko and #1 Lafrenière so far hasn’t panned out, cosmic justice. Also, after having the best goaltender in Lundqvist for an eternity, it just happens that Shesterkin replaces him immediately, drafted in the 4th round, #118 OA. It’s gotta be tough to be a Ranger fan.

And they went to the CF last year. But yeah, lucky for sens fans that they don’t have to suffer like you Ranger fans.

Calgary has lost 3 top 4 caliber Dman and even then they're losing games by a single goal because Markstrom constantly gets outdueled by the other goalie, not very comparable scenarios. Besides Sens have looked immensely better overall compred to the last few seasons arguably even better than some of the teams above them as well.

Missing Norris I think has made them worse in the top 6. Not to mention freaking Brassard is being played as the 2C now which is just sad. And then the D-core hasn’t really changed much at all. But then again not much you can do about that cause a lot of them are still relatively young. There also seems to be some underperforming but they at least have a good thing about them going which is scoring goals even without Norris. Perhaps it’s just something that’ll take a little bit more time for them to really build themselves up this season. And honestly it’s still too early to say really. Just enjoy the hockey right now and be glad you’re not Canucks fans because being that is far more miserable right now…
