was at the draft listen to about a 1000 fans outside screaming for shane wright getting habs jerseys with his name on it signed.....didnt seem to matter, Romanov was loved by a lot of habs fan that didnt seem to matter,
Whether fans think the team is in a rebuild or competing make no difference if you have a management team that actually knows what they are doing. Under Bergevin it would matter because he made decisions without ever seeming to have a plan, but new management seems more then willing to move forward how they see fit.

I was not talking about the players I was talking about whether or not Habs are in a rebuilding mode.

If Habs are rebuilding then it's preposterous to trade a 1st and a top prospect.

I hate it when I hear fans wanting to rebuild on June 23 at the draft and then want to sign the best players a week later on July 1.

Again, you can't be half pregnant.

i know what you were saying and I was just meaning management is clearly staying the course, whether the average habs fan thinks they are in a rebuild or not every decision Hughes has taken shows they are and he will continue to make moves accordingly. So to my point fans can have wte opinion they like this management team is focused on building a winning team and to do that they will see the rebuild through.

Isn't that what teams do, getting their rebuild down to 1-3 years then start moving picks and prospects for younger more established players to fill those last 2 or 3 holes and become a playoff team for a 5 year period? (not what I think we should do just saying it is normally what is done)

Normally thats what they do.

Hughes has the option, to go that route, or make smart FA signings.

Using that Calgary 2025 1st could be good bait to get an established RD, and throwing a pitch at Jarry, or Hill to 1A/B with Allen could expedite the path to the playoffs without costing any positional or internally developed assets.

Don't know too much about Beck, or Struble to be honest.

But the fact that you have MTL's 2023 first round pick, even with the condition, makes this the most realistic PLD trade so far.
