As a Caps fna I'd do this all day but that's because Brown will be out until like the last 2 rounds of the playoffs.

Even without considering Brown's current injury status (out the full season+), that Caps trade is absolute robbery for WAS.

The Arizona trade is bad value for Edmonton too.

Didn't even notice it. I've developed a mental filter to ignore all Chychrun trades tears of joy

Arziona isnt selling cheaper than their current ask otherwise he would have been moved after Jakob's comments in the offseason. They are dug in much like Sakic on Duchene back in the day. The urge to move him ASAP because of 'appearances' is over.

Top4 D come at a massive price. I dont see how its any less than this return price when you have defenceman like Romanov whos a maybe top4 going for the 13th overall pick in the past draft. Bourgault isnt at that level. Broberg looks like a bust and you'd have to include Bro just to move Barrie's deal. This is essentially a 1st (protected i hope) and another mid/late round 1st for Chychrun. Is it a lot? yes! But the Oilers need to do something here in McDrai window and this will be the price at a min for Chychrun

It's genuinely incredible to me that people feel comfortable labeling a 21-year old, 6'3 Dman whose 20-year old, rookie AHL season saw him produce 23 points in 31 games is a bust. It's a truly astounding assertion to me, but one you're free to make, I guess.

And sure, that's their ask that they're staying firm on. Our critique with the trade is that it would represent poor value for EDM. In my case, the basis for this position is rooted from a belief that he's not the Dman they should be targeting given the (IMO) unreasonable cost and his EXTENSIVE injury history. They can address the problem that Chychrun would potentially address through other, less expensive means which would better facilitate success during the McDrai era (i.e. not trading away 3 important young pieces).

I'd sooner give up a 13th overall pick for a 22 year old LD with 2 years of top-4 experience (not to mention Romanov's particular skillset) than I would give up a package like that for Chychrun.

Caps say yes and register the trade before you realize Connor Brown isn't playing for the rest of the year
