Can't retain on an inactive contract. Would have to wait until the extension to kick in.

How to the Flames pay for 8m (or 7m) Miller, 10.5m Huberneau and 6.25m next season?

If VAN could get away with ONLY paying $1m for next 8yrs for Miller, they should take it and RUN. That is a situation that does not seem to have any chance to turn it around. He seems to hate life now.

Way off. Miller is still one off Vancouvers best players. That doesn’t disappear overnight

No thanks. Clearly we need Hanifin and Kylington as our defence is awful with Mackey and Desimone.

Dude did you even bother to look at your salary cap for next season? You don't have the $8,000,000 to take on Miller. And there's no way in hell Allvin is eating $7,000,000 on Miller for pieces he doesn't need. Both Hanifin and Kylington are LDs Vancouver is set at LD they need RD help plus a late Florida 1st in 2025 doesn't cut it. No way Vancouver accepts it. And no way can Calgary afford Miller at $8,000,000 per x 7 yrs.

But they can't. They would have to wait until the contract has already kicked in which he would then have a NMC.

He has never been a sweetheart defensively. He puts up points regardless

He is but the Canucks do not like his agressive attitude. This is something Sutter could remedy though.

JT Miller currently is the best Canuck at prevent xGA per Evolving Hockey’s RAPM model 5v5. He’s actually been a very bright spot defensively this year.

He’s also been very dynamic offensively with 13 points in 14 games. However, he as 0 secondary assists, meaning all of his points this season have been primary points.

Last year, in his 99 point season, he had 31 secondary assists, meaning he only had 68 primary points. Still a very good number, but he’s actually out pacing it this season
