Canucks aren’t giving up a 1st + Hoglander for a pending UFA and Nyquist, while also retaining on Myers

This trade is worse than taking a cactus up the ass...

How does this make sense from the Canucks perspective? Trading the best asset in the first rounder. The second best in a 25% retained Myers. And I'd argue the 3rd best in Hoggy... Nyquist is literally a cap dump.

You have to imagine this with an old west serious style tune behind it, as it was in Demetri Martin's stand up bit, part of a segment called "sames and opposites":

"A cactus, is the opposite, of a chaiiir ... in my house, you can sit, anywhere, but theeere ... especially, if your ass, is, bare.."

I'd say you don't know much about gavrikov and that's understandable, he doesn't get alot of air time or attention. He does however play top2 minutes and has matched up against the top lines in the league for the last few years. He's an upgrade on Myers easily, and hog is a project player at this point, he hasn't looked like much for multiple seasons now, which is why you constantly see hog (and Myers) posted here in trades. He's Vancouver's Robertson (leafs)...shows promise but never actually does much with it.

Nyquist would actually contribute to the team(usually 50pts/season) and could do so in a top 6 role, gavrikov would hopefully be extended and the deal doesn't happen if he's not.

As for the 1st round pick, this team is much better then this , they shouldn't be in the lottery by the end of season, atleast out of the bottom 10. So unless you have so little faith in your own team it's really not a big deal for a top 2-4 dman and a top6 forward, while also dumping Myers (and maybe the retention isn't needed, but 6mil for next year would be hard for the jacket to take)
