"That's it! Back to Winnipeg!" :)
With CBJ missing Werenski for the rest of the Season, it makes it that much more important to bring in a top 4D to help. Like Schmidt, who I suggested recently because he would help things with his strong positive mindset and personality. You also get 22 yr old Dmitri Rashevsky who is NHL ready. Then a 20211st round 18th overall prospect in Chaz Lucuis. Who's almost NHL ready, who you can use sometimes and develop into the Teams System. Then a 2024 2nd Round pick.
Putting all the chips on the table and going for it all.
Getting Patrick Laine back will make our top 6 consistently Elite. AND ALSO the top 9 and 4 Forward lines consistently elite. Then getting a strong decently big right handed RD will help with the physicality, and not be a skating liability while helping in front of the net battles. Someone who is also from Manitoba. We shouldn't care to pay the price to have a better chance for the Championship. Our players want to win now, their window to win is closing. Usually Players (or people) can get very upset with how things are going, $h!t happens. IYKYK. The Jets are in a good position, so why not go all in?
This team set up is Situational. ($504,643 Cap after Heinola is sent back down after an improved role and focused commitment to him for weeks)
It is focused on giving Heinola an opportunity while Morgan Barron is still out at least 3-4 weeks from recovering from a wrist surgery. I suggest to see how valuable Heinola can be, play him on the 2nd PP and the Penalty Kill. Cale Makar is the perfect comparison of how Heinola can potentially be or even better. (Who is to determine the limits of someones drive in life?)
The Jets top 4 D are familiar with each other's game, so Jets still play their game. Hamonic is a very solid D, so he will give Heinola a good partner and they'll learn how to play with the 2 other pairings. Heinola having a decently bigger physical D-man will help him, so he doesn't have to focus on too much physicality, and mostly plays to his strengths. Which is his skating abilities, vision and skills. Heinola is Waivers exempt so he can be regularly called up when there are injuries.
Next year Heinola should be a full regular, so Brendan Dillon's spot will probably open up(Hopefully after a very deep playoff.) Successful or not, the Jets should trade Brendan Dillon to recover the strength in this year's draft. Brendan Dillon for a 2nd rounder + whatever(whoever wants to show they want him.) Which will also open up money to LOCK UP DUBOIS.
Morrissey-DeMelo
($6,250,000)($3,000,000)
Samberg-Pionk
(*$800,000?*)($5,875,000)
Heinola-Hamonic
($863.333)(*$1,375,000?*)
Stanley
(*$800,000?*)
Hellebuyck
($6,166,667)
Salminen
($855,000) Cap Space = $67,163,691 with 16 signed
$16,336,309 with 7 to sign
or $4M Cap raise @ $19,336,309 with 7 to sign
Dubois @ $11,000,000 x *8 years
Hamonic @ $1,250,000 x 4 years
Barron, Samberg, Stanley, Stenlund, Gagner:
@ $800,000 x 5
= $16,250,000 used with $86,309 Space or $3,086,309.
The other players have to compromise a low cap for 1 year, unless the cap raises $4.0M+. Dubois should be locked up. I would easily pay $11M to lock up Dubois for *8 years. It's also probably the Max we can offer. If we can't sign and move forward longterm with Dubois, we might as well focus our efforts on improving any changes. More money would just be opened up if Dubois is signed for less.
The Finnipeg Jets will be back :P. Brad Lambert will soon be ready for the big games and the future Global Series :P
Rashevsky is a 22 yr old NHL ready player with 21 points(12 goals) in 29 KHL games. He also had 35 points in 48 games last year in the KHL. Both Lucius and Rashevsky are players CBJ could use to help with Forward lines now and going forward. Then trade away others that are FA's or give you value to use to retool your team. Schmidt helps with your D and brings positive influence to lift the Teams spirits.
No Trades. But these are the players that will be waived, or could be traded for. CHI is one of the teams I see Jets making trades with. So I tagged CHI.
This is also a hint to Teams and players that take Winnipeg serious.
If CBJ had balls, this is not a terrible idea. If Rashevsky is just a place holder for any prospect that CBj likes out of WPG, this haul + a decent shot at Bedard + the group of kids they already have.
Lambert has been healthy scratched quite a bit in the AHL already. Idk wtf the story is but yikes!
Apparently he’s been dealing with a substantial illness. So he hasn’t been healthy scratched. At least that’s what’s coming from Dave Minuk (probably the most trusted Moose source)
Not the worst for Columbus but I would want Lambert vs Lucius.
Lambert is a very exciting prospect, but if that’s what it would take to bring back Patty, I’d think the Jets would be interested.
I think the bigger question is if Laine would really want to be back in Winnipeg. If his issues with the other players still exist, then I can’t see winnipeg pulling the trigger on any price.
