I think the Canucks would much rather have Niemela then Robertson. I imagine the values are similar, but VAN needs RD help (now or future) much more then they need wing help and Robertson is an awkward fit into the lineup

There is zero reason for the Devils to make this trade. There would be no roster room for Engvall. At least with AJ he only costs $750k in actual money.

Switch the 2nd to a 1st and remove Hirvonen and Columbus might consider. With Werenski out for the season Gavrikov becomes Columbus number 1 defenseman.

Who cares about actual money? They are both on expiring contracts and Devils are literally paying $1.2M in buried cap just to have him sit in the minors

Which is what Engvall would be doing, so what is your point? The Devils need neither player, and based on us having to retain on AJ, we are actually paying more against the cap to bring Engvall in and send someone like Holtz down. There is no roster room in either case. So what exactly is your point?
