Devils aren't interested in selling Severson, and if they were they'd be after a 1st

I don’t see why the Jets would want to do that. We should definitely be keeping Big Bad Brad

Brad Lambert sucks, His scoring was a big question mark going into the draft. That's why he was picked to go anywhere from #20 to #32. Heinola is a LD and the Canucks need RD help so no use to them.

Would love to see Kevin Cheveldayoff give Bo Horvat 7 x $7,500,000 to play 3C but then again once Mark Scheifele and Pierre-Luc Dubois are traded he'll move up to at least 2C.

I actually like the moves. Although the way NJD are playing, I can’t see them moving anyone. BUT, considering that they’d have a Severson replacement (signed for an extra year) they may consider it. Severson is less useful to NJD with Hamilton/Marino and eventually Nemec.
The Horvat one is interesting. The price is steep, but there’s salary retention and Horvat is playing very well. I also like it as an insurance policy to try and have a window to extend Horvat and perhaps soften the blow of a loss of either PLD or Schief.
I see both values as relatively fair.

Way, way, way too much to give up for a rental to play on the 3rd line in the first trade.

Nothing interesting for Jersey and a lateral move for the Jets, in the second. Severson is better offensively, but DeMelo is better defensively.

They would be big moves. But geez Jets lose big on that Severson deal. Horvat? I'd really like to see if he can continue his offensive wizardly this season before trading for him. One reason teams trade closer to TDL is to see if they are true contenders to give up good futures.

Devils have been playing pretty well, so we may skip our usual deadline firesale this year.

(Don’t trade Lambert!)

Meh, I don't hate this trade.

What interest would Fitz have in another late first at this point? This trade sets NJ up to not significantly downgrade the team, while also not losing Severson for nothing.

DeMelo is decent and would be a good stop-gap for Nemec if he needs another year in the AHL.

The Jets aren't losing much in that NJ trade, Torgersson is the only piece I wouldn't want to lose in that deal.

If they can extend Severson its a win, doubt Jersey makes that deal though.

I just don't see that there much difference between DeMelo and Severson. Plus the Jets get a guaranteed DeMelo at 3m next season.

I see a big difference between the two, would much rather have Severson then DeMelo.

He would be 2C. I think Scheifele stays and Dubois goes.

I wouldn’t make these moves tomorrow but if it’s January and we are still playing this well then you go all in.

I don't agree, I think Lambert looked good to really good in the pre season, his future could absolutely be bright. And I'm not all that crazy about Horvat either to be honest, from watching a decent amount of Canucks games.
