Why would you do this? Crouse is just a slight upgrade on Dube: he's older and on fire, and Dube's younger and in a slump. Crouse will slow down eventually, and Dube will get up and running again eventually, so why make this trade? And Mackey is a better option at 6D than Gilbert, in my personal opinion.

Like I said in the description the trade is hard for me. Dube just can’t find his game in Calgary, and I don’t know why? Crouse has been starting to find his scoring touch, and the bigger body would compliment Hubie and Kadri better.

The Flames are approaching a spot where they need value contracts. Dube at 2.3 for 22/23 and 23/24 is a value deal. Crouse at 4.3 for 5yrs isn't right now.

I would honestly take this deal. Crouse is still someone who’s still in the trad market and for his contract? His production could be better in Calgary I think. Not to mention he’s #1 among forwards in Arizona in PK time. He plays a physical game and scores goals. Sutter will love him.
