Jost is awful. There is a reason he's sitting instead of the AHL callups (who have no business near NHL ice) MN is using currently.

Kapanen is better than Jost, but paid more. 1-for-1 I'd do if I was MN, just for something different. I wouldn't add anything due to the AAV difference. So unless PIT is in desperate need of $1.2m cap space it doesn't make sense for them at all.

Boston moves Smith for cap space, taking Kapanen back does not accomplish that.

Prefer Smith to Kap, prefer his expiring contract too.

I don’t think smith has been a healthy scratch this year. He’s been banged up.

If he’s moved there would be precisely zero cap coming back

I honestly would strongly consider and lean towards accepting a Smith for Kapanen trade but a late pick may need to be added on a side but that looks good

That's fair. I definitely think Kapanen is the better player, and can see him bouncing back in a new environment. I just dont see it being in PIT. He was scratched for two games and then came back in the lineup only because Hallander had an illness. In that game, he played 7 minutes, which was 3 minutes less than any other forward. It seems like he has fallen out with Sullivan and players usually struggle to come back from that.

Yamamoto wasn't a healthy scratch - where did you get that from?

I saw he was scratched last game. Didnt know it was an injury. Regardless, would not surprise me to see him get moved.

It's easy to google information: "Yamamoto (undisclosed) returned to Edmonton to be evaluated for an injury suffered Tuesday versus the Lightning, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports."

He scored 20 goals last year. He won't be free.

When did I say free? He also has 0 goals in 13 games and has been struggling. I think that is pretty clear.
