Schenn is more physical than Holl and Dubas has mentioned a few times he wants a more physical guy on the backend, cap saving might be crucial

Buch has only had one ppg season and his on ice shooting % was nearly 15%, we're seeing the regression already, he's a top 6 winger, not some elite star

Top-6 winger with affordable term still gets more than a pending UFA, a 1st in next year's draft, and a B-tier prospect with a second-pair ceiling.

buch is not gonna be traded. the term and aav is really good and yall dont have the assets to get him

You mean the leafs won't part with the asking price because they definitely have the assets.

Willing to acknowledge that the Leafs may have to add another 1st or prospect or some combination of picks/prospects to get this done but responses acting like a first and niemela is essentially worthless is stupid. I'm fine with having a legitimate discussion about compensation rather than having the offer called weak or a joke

Haha what? Why would anything in TML land get in any Blues fans' heads? That doesn't even make sense in context. But you have a fine day, dude.

I mean, my original post said that St. Louis' ask would start with a 2023 1st and Knies. I don't think that's an insane overreach - Knies profiles as a middle-6 guy, and a 2023 1st is going to be more valuable than a 2024 at this point, especially for a team like the Blues that's more likely to try and retool on the fly than tear it down and rebuild.

They have no reason to have to move Buchnevich - he's still productive, he has some term left, and his cap hit isn't an anchor. You're going to have to overpay if you want them to give that up. Engvall, a 2024 1st and Niemela is basically the package that the Flames gave up to get Tyler Toffoli last year, and Toffoli is way less productive than Buchnevich has been throughout his career - even if you think last year is an outlier, he was still a perennial 50-55 point guy in New York and would be on pace for that this year as well - a level that Toffoli had only ever hit once in his career at the time of the trade.
