Description
columbus and buff picks are protected
Couture and Karlsonn, and Benn trades gots no shot at happening so they don't really matter, and everything else I really only know about like 3 teams in this league so if the value is off I apologize. I also don't really want the sharks to do this

don't think Columbus is going to trade Bedard+ for Couture

Deal

Trying to make sense of the 23 draft, with the Sabres needs in mind. The draft is stocked with A level prospects, but there's only 2 right shot d with a first round grade, and they are towards the end of the round. So we likely won't be drafting a d with our pick (if we keep it). There are many forwards, some centers, who would be my default pick. I would say after right d- which we won't get with our pick, and center- which was addressed in the last draft, getting bigger and more physical up front would be my plan. So moving an early-ish (let's say 12th oa) plus a solid prospect like Rosen seems like a reasonable idea. I don't love overpaying wingers, but at 7 million, I'm good.

Couture is cool and all, but how would you feel about sending Nico Sturm over for Calgary's 3rd? The first rounder is looking more and more likely to be Top 3.

Couture is on one of the worst contracts in the league. You don’t get a top 5 pick (potentially bedard) and one of the best prospects in the AHL for a cap dump

Doesn't matter how much "protection" you want to try to put on that CBJ 1st, you're not getting it.

Sharks aren’t trading Sturm for a 3rd. He’s been one of their best depth players this year and has scored quite a bit actually. Just signed to a three year deal too.

To all of these people - it was something mentioned in an article about them wanting a top center -> sharks will not trade couture or Karlsson and they don't wanna leave + a protected pick means it would slide to next year when they should be a better team lmao -> couture is playing well this season smile it is reasonable to assume if he is playing with two wingers better than bonino and nieto that he would continue producing

I wouldn't necessarily want to do that, I would rather move bonino and nieto. Sturm is the depth piece the sharks have been looking for centuries

Let me reiterate: it doesn't matter, you're not getting that 1st. I don't care about whatever article you read or whatever rationalizations you come up with, it's not available, period, full stop. The Sharks do not have the caliber of asset necessary for the Jackets to even consider such a move, protection or "presumed slides" or whatever. It's a straight up no, no deal, it's over, go home, discussion over before it starts because you have zero basis to justify even bringing that asset up.

my brother in christ if the conditions aren't met to get the 2023 first it would move to 2024-25 it could split to two seconds in later years (the essence of pic protection) - ill be sure to clarify the protections next time. + Coutures contract isn't that bad, he is definitely over paid, but he's still putting up 50+ points a season while playing with whatever random 4th liners the sharks had available

0-for-2. I'm a woman and I'm Jewish.

And you're still arguing, so you still haven't gotten the point. The conditions do not matter. You're not getting that 1st as a trade return even if it turns out to be the 32nd overall pick.
