Just curious and not trying to start anything, but what do you think Byram and Newhook get on their next contracts? Since with the MacKinnon extension, I would assume that Byram and Newhook would be 2 of the players most likely to receive an offer sheet next year, with the situation being a lot worse if Escrow doesn’t get paid off and the cap increase doesn’t come until 2024-25. Add in the rest and f the bottom 6 that needs to be signed, I would imagine the Avs have a rather troublesome off-season next year.

Pretty sure Girard is traded next off-season and they sign both to bridge deals.

the problem with offersheets, players have to want to sign them.
There is no fear of offersheets, thats just a myth that fans like to get obsessed about.

Horvat would give them the best top 6 in the league. Maybe replace Behrens with someone else to even out the value

Yeah, the player has to want to sign the offer sheet for anything to happen. I mean, if it were Arizona that was sending it, I would imagine they don’t sign it. But if a team like Carolina or Tampa were sending one with more term and money, would they take the bridge deal most likely offered by the Avs or the OS with more money and term by an equally good contender? Obviously, teams will do a lot of things to get elite players at a price well below what their market value would be. But it definitely comes down to whether the player wants to sign.

They don't need Schenn. On a healthy Avs D he's at best #6. More likely healthy scratch. Compher is their swiss army knife and for a team who lack C depth, trading one out makes no sense. They have few picks and the cupboard is bare. Behrens is ther best D prospect, and they wouldn't be able to re-sign Horvat. That makes this scarily bad from the Avs side.
