I think you have the pick going the wrong way in the Detroit and jersey trades, I don't think either team would have interest in those players.

I do think someone would pay a 3rd for Dumoulin, so not arguing that, but he kind of seems like "I lost out on who I wanted...it's 2:57...I need to get something done and add a veteran for the playoffs."

NYR doesn't need Horvat. We have Chytil, Trocheck and Zibanejad.

Except Drury had every intention of trying to sign Copp long term, and tried to, but it didn't work out that way obviously. Horvat is a pure rental, so your comparison is apples to oranges. And before you say it, NO, the Rangers don't have extra cap space to sign him and they are not trading Trocheck or anyone else to make cap space for him. Horvat would be a pure rental.

As much as I want Garland, I just cannot see a way to take on the OEL contract and come out on top.

But Copp was supposed to be our 2C moving forward (then Trocheck came on to the market).

We have them a conditional 1st (2nd rounder otherwise) and Morgan Barron (bottom 6 forward). That’s not as much as a 1st, 2nd, blais and gauthier. For someone NYR intended on resigning. Considering Trocheck went to FA, they opted for the upgrade. Like the comments state, Horvat is a pure rental.
