Description

I've had my eye on Radim Simek for a while now, and since Big Z is out for the season with a torn labrum, now would be a good time to bring in an NHL-caliber defenseman to fill a hole.

I asked a friend of mine that follows San Jose what he thought Simek's trade value is, and he responded with "something in the middle of the draft." Here goes nothing...

So I would probably just stick with the 4th, Svozil could be expendable, but it would cost more than a depth D at the NHL level for his services. (Svozil probably 4th best D in the Columbus prospect pool - Jiricek, Mateychuk, Celeumans, then Svozil)

If he were a UFA then sure, but with the 2 year contract we might need that cap room to improve other spots in the line up. I’m also not sure I’d want to move Svozil yet, hes been pretty good for Rigina in the WHL this year.

Not at what he'd likely cost. And not with his injury concerns. THey're got enough defensemen already who can't stay healthy.

Sharks would jump all over that. Simek just got hurt last game though
