Minnesota wouldn't do this. Dumba with 3mil retain would easily get a 1st and some prospect in 23 draft pick. Not a 24 pick and a 4th line player in kapan. And rw prospect.

If we get Dumba then I really don't think we need Petrey. Any trade ideas you'd have for him? That's 6 mil of cap space that could pretty much revamp our bottom 6

I mean I understand you wont do it I'm just trying to say its fair value. The value is there but the pieces are not. Imo i think Kapanen would work well as you are struggling for bottom 5 depth. I'd upgrade the prospect and add a 4th as well

Wild will wait for 1st round pick. Kapanen has zero spots on Minnesota right now. Bottom line is no longer struggling

We aren't really struggling for bottom 6 depth though. We are struggling with injuries and guys being forced up the lineup as a result of those injuries that don't really fit there. Once we get healthy, Jost is likely gone for whatever we can get for him. Shaw has blown by him and Steel on the depth chart. Our 4th line has (unfortunately) been one of our best lines the last few games.

With our major cap issues, which will be worse next year with $2 million more in dead cap and both Boldy and Addison needing new contracts, paying $3.2 million for Kapanen is a non-starter. Even letting all our UFAs walk, money will be tight next year. There's better ways for us to allocate our money than overpaying for a depth piece that doesn't really move the needle.
