Wild Retool

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2023-24 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 15, 2022
Published: Nov. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the season doesn't really go that well for Minnesota would they consider a 2-3 year retool/ rebuild until the Suter and Parise buyouts are done?
Right now they have over 14.7M in dead cap until 2025/2026 season. If they were to sell off some assets including Kaprizov they could potentially be back in a competitive spot come the 25/26 season. They would have to trade Kaprizov before the 24/25 season as that's when his NMC kicks in and the return could be significantly less. All pending UFAs over the next two years would have to be traded, ideally for decent prospects but worst case early picks. This is just to see what people think a Kaprizov trade could look like. I chose New Jersey as they have the cap space for his cap hit, have really good young prospects and a couple decent young roster players they could trade that wouldn't hurt them that badly. They also have a pretty deep team that doesn't need much to be true contenders and a player like Kaprizov could be the type of dynamic talent that could take them to the next level. The other mock trades aren't really specific but just showing which players could likely be easily moved for half decent returns. The teams, especially for the 23/24 trades are just random since its impossible to tell where those teams will be at next seasons deadline.
Could chase a couple free affects for short term deals as well or maybe one big fish in 24/25 offseason. Defence looks like it will be pretty solid and hopefully Wallstedt is ready for back up duties in 24/25 season.

Note the Toronto trade doesn't have to necessarily be Toronto, forgot to put that in the trade description. Any team at the deadline that is interested for a similar package.

Additional Details:
This could be a 2023 1st instead but I think alot of teams will have a reluctance to trade this year's firsts. I also wanted a prospect that is a little closer to being in the NHL as someone drafted with a late first this year. The 2024 2nd could be used to acquire someone in trade or actually draft a player.

Not necessarily Colorado but any team who needs some cheap decent forward depth for a similar prospect. Foudy might have more value than Gaudreau, I chose him as he is about the right age and was picked with the round pick I feel he is worth.

      TOR
      1. Fleury, Marc-André

Right now or next season? Cause right now they have two AHL goalies unless Matt Murray is back, I haven't checked that yet. This trade really only happens if Matt Murray doesn't play well this season and next season they want to move on. They move down the draft we will say about 15 picks to acquire Fleury to back up Samsonov and save 1.1M next season. That's what this trade is based off of, to say Toronto doesn't need a goalie when this is based next season doesn't really make sense cause who knows how Murray plays.

I consider it to be the value of about 4 1sts and a 2nd, Nemec being worth 2 1sts being selected 2nd overall.

Considering all the teams are just random picks except the NJ one its pretty hard to say every team declines. Also Toronto wasn't quite random and the islanders as well but the circumstances on why they would want to make such trades is in the explanation.

No but he's looked good in preseason and his first game he looked good as well but the team didn't show up. I like how he plays though. He's big, stays square and makes the saves he should make.

I want to see more of him, hopefully he can stay healthy.

Imagine trolling and thinking wild give away kaprizov, give away foligno for crap,OK dude. One of the most unrealistic proposal on here. And wild pay for Bailey lol??

Not a new Jersey fan. Don't think I've ever made a jersey wild trade, can't remember exactly. But very stupid comment.

Yet you somehow gave away kaprizov, when Guerin will get fired on the spot. Imagine thinking wild will ever trade their leader in foligno, much less retain for crap. And then pay to take on Josh Bailey. It's not fun. You know what you were doing. You should do your research

Give away Kaprizov? That's crazy good value for any player. Trading Foligno next year could easily happen if they wanted to retool, if they are trying to be competitive they probably resign him but in this scenario they aren't. The Bailey has the pick going to the Wild so I don't understand how that's paying for Bailey, maybe you should do your research.

Dude foligno is untouchable. Guerin would never trade him. You clearly don't know who foligno or Kaprizov is. Stop trying to act like you know anything about Kaprizov and foligno and who they are to Guerin or Dan's. Yeah, your crap isn't getting the face of franchise since gaborik. Guerin turned down a 1st for foligno when Minnesota was bad.
