He's a very good offensive defensemen. His defense is keeping him back. That's why I'm saying a #4 and not a #3. I'll admit, he's close to being a #3 defender, but he has to improve his defensive game.

his defense is not keeping him back. He's above average defensively at evens strength and on the PK

I feel Kane goes to his new team and catches his second wind and just goes on a tear. I feel his just playing it out till the TDL

Its kind of gonna be like what we saw from Giroux last season

They are being deployed as #1 dmen and preforming poorly at it, Bouchard is being deployed as a 2nd pairing dman and is excelling. It's a good indicator that Bouchard might be ready for more responsibility, but I wouldn't call him a #1 dman until he shows he can actually sustain his play with the extra TOI. He should be able too since it's not a huge jump, but young dmen sometimes struggle with more ice time, more time spent matched against top lines, less generous deployment, pressure from higher expectations, etc. I certainly wouldn't call him a #4 dman, but he certainly hasn't proven himself to be a #1 dman.

Edmonton's most used D pair (Nurse-Ceci) usually gets a lot more time with Mcdavids line, so im sure Bouchard will thrive in that role. Usually when a players ice time goes up, their quality of teammates increases, so it will actually be an easier role for Bouchard.

You would have to be the worse Hockey player of all time if you didnt look good while on the ice W/McDavid

Mcdavid has been much better away from Nurse. With Nurse and Mcdavid on the ice , the oilers have a 48% xgf% , when mcdavid is without nurse he has a 55% xgf%

It should be easy for him, but calling him a #1 dman before it happens and he actually proves it is just inaccurate. He's a good 2nd pairing dman who should be able to play a bigger role, and if he was available alot of teams would certainly take the chance he could, but until he does that's basically all there is to it.

Yeah I agree, it's hard to find motivation when you're team is clearing rebuilding and you've already made over 100 Million.

I never once denied that, I just stated that he currently isn't a #1 defender. Until there is proof that he can do it though, he'll be a 2nd pairing defender.

I wonder, if JFresh's model has him at 4% in EV Def, how exactly is he above average at even strength?

Im surprised at how good the Islanders are this year

They should load up this TDL by trading Raty + 1st for Patrick Kane

I'm predicting Colorado, with double retained salary.

I feel Colorado is going after Horvat as to me they need a 2C more than another wing as it seems at times they miss Kadri. And while Horvat isnt exactly like Kadri he and MacKinnon would make for a solid one two punch

I don't think Horvat will be traded. Allvin will overprice him and then re-sign him in panic, with way too much money.

Cuz that's the Nucks way.

I feel there is gonna be a team or two who will pay his price. As Horvat is probs playing the best hockey we have seen and while its a contract year it does present opportunities for said team. As I feel hes a playoff sleeper candidate as when he was last in the playoffs he went off. I feel hes gonna do it again with whatever team he gets traded to (i.e. go on a run goals and points wise)

To me Colorado gonna trade for him then extend him

We will see. I personally think this is exactly the reason why Nucks overprices him and he ends up not moving anywhere (quite similar to Miller in fact), especially since it seems they are not eyeing for a retool of any kind.

Jfresh does a combined 21-23 impact, he doesn’t have this years impact until I think midway through the season. Last year Bouchard was not good defensively, this year he has been very good.

I don't think the Canucks can actually afford Horvat. There is no way that happens without another significant trade (Boeser, Garland, Myers)
