A question, and also bit of a hot take.

Has Ovechkin been at any stage of his career the best player in the world?

Alternatively, has Ovechkin been at any stage of his career the best Russian player in NHL?

I think there's a debate to be had on both points.

1. No, not for a sustained period of time anyway (like not longer than a couple of weeks).
2. Yes I think that's the case, most definitely when Datsyuk started slowing down around 2010 or so.

Also, there's no need to debate here.
I'm always right about everything.

Ovi is a legend and easily a top 10 all-time player. Sid is the only player of the last 25 years to check more boxes than him.

Ovi was certainly the best individual player in hockey during his first 2 Hart seasons. But, winning counts for a lot and he didn't win in his 20's. Sid and Geno did.

I think an argument for Malkin being the best Russian player can be made for a couple seasons, but goal scoring always takes precedence over point totals for me.

Kucheov has probably been the best Russian skater for a number of years now.

Agreed. I think Datsyuk, Malkin and Kucherov have been the best Russian players in the league during their times.

Yes, 2007-8 or whichever year he scored 65 he was the best in the world.

Best scorer definitely, but I'd put Datsyuk as a challenger here. He was in 100 point pace and his two-way game was unparalleled.

He's got 3 Hart and Ted Lindsay trophies, so according to both player and writers - yes.

Last I checked, Loui Eriksson doesn’t play for the devils…

I was thinking about this when I was playing nhl slapshot today.

I think he was at one time the best in the world. It was always him or Crosby until mcdavid came into the league.

And yes he is the greatest Russian player of all time.

Edit. I forgot about Pavel. But he still is the best of all time Russian wise

The idea of trading for Severson seems highly unlikely now.

Did something happen or are you just talking about the fact that the devils are on a 12 game win steal and among the best teams in the league?

Stick taps for Patrice Bergeron.

Imagine how beloved that guy would be if he didn't have to overcome the Bruins hatred.

Leafs Kryptonite besides lottery teams is now themselves in OT

Literally how many no look giveaways was that tonight 5 (Marner and Willy need a firm talking to by the coach this is getting ridiculous)

Holy **** and its bad enough Rielly is out and Kallgren went braindead for a min we got this problem

Sure we got a point but if you cant play well 3 on 3 whats the point of making it to OT
