Sabres should avoid Merkley at all costs.

1. It didn't take that long its 1 trade
2. Then change the trade, that's not the point of the exercise! whether its a first this year or a couple of seconds, the point is he fits at a reasonable cap # so we don't need to be afraid of doing it.
3. This obviously isn't going to happen, the point is to demonstrate the cap space work that would need to be done

It could be meier or an $8 million AAV free agent, whatever suits your fancy, but your comment is pretty unproductive and what's so "not close" to you I nearly overpaid everywhere (in contracts) and there is still room tears of joy

Yeah that’s going to be a no from San Jose. There’s really no top piece in that trade at all. No top prospect or 1st, it’s very much a quantity trade.

I understand where you are coming from here, but, like I had said earlier in the comments, I am trying to show Sabres fans that there is cap room over the next couple of years to make a trade or signing of a really high-end player such as Meier!

Also, I think that Rosen is a little slept on being a lottery pick in 2021, Ryan Johnson was a first and could play in the NHL now, but wanted to go back to school (if he doesn't sign he returns a 2nd rounder for comp) so yes I agree that this definitely won't be the final package, a bottom 6 (fringe middle 6) roster player w/ team control, two recent first round picks, and two seconds is not the worst offer you are gonna see on here smile

I like Rosen and Johnson (CA boy) a lot so I'm biased, but if you drop Merkley and upgrade the 2nd to a 1st I'd be fine with SJ doing that. And yeah, can't believe people thought Buffalo didn't have room

I like Rosen, not a top prospect but a good one, Johnson is okay. Mittlestadt is just meh. Definitely not the worst trade we’ve seen by a bit lol
