Lol, Benning style, but at least Benning got some retention.

Curious why Karlsson would leave one bad team for another?

Sharks will want picks/prospects. If they wanted good players they would just keep Karlsson.

This still accelerates the rebuild. Myers comes off the books after one season and if Boeser bounces back his age fits their time line much better. It’s way better than having 3 or 4 million dollars of retention for the next 5 years

Karlsson is much better than OEL. Karlsson is the player Benning thought OEL would be

He may like the city, Doesn't mean he likes the team. I sure wouldn't waive for a team that's more than likely heading for some kind of rebuild/retool.

Not quite, Karlsson is all offense, OEL is an offensive guy too but I feel like he was expected to be defensively responsible. Would be interesting to see the least, but without retention it's going to be an absolute nightmare, especially when Karlsson isn't good.

To be fair, he did say he's happy in SJ and wanting to stay, it might just have been the generic "correct" response but could also be true. He would be coming in as part of a retool, and he doesn't have to worry about a rebuild since it seems ownership won't allow it.

That's a fair assessment.

I don’t think any contender would take on his deal right now unless their is significant retention. Like $5 mill plus

Oh i totally agree, A vast majority of contenders even at close to 50% retention couldn't afford him. He'd definitely be heading for a bottom feeder just for that very reason.
