Assuming Ott is not in a playoff spot, Motte went for a fourth last year

Seattle is in a playoff spot and in that weak a$$ division they'll probably be there at the end. Yanni Gourde is definitely someone you keep. Ron Francis would be foolish to do that.

Swapping Joz and Holden for Dumo and Kapanen isn't a worthwhile move for Ottawa, certainly not if Ottawa is kicking in a 2nd to do it. Joz is 25 on a reasonable deal, he's definitely in the longer term plans for Ottawa, Dumo would be a rental D in a year the Sens are already out of the race. Holden and Kapanen are both minor parts in terms of value imo, but I would rather not have Kapanen than have him. Dude has lightning in his skates and cement in his brain.

Kapanen needs to play with higher end talent to succeed imo. At least that’s what it seems like lately.

Are you really worth it if you need other players to reach your potential how about elevating those around you? That he needs to play with top end talent comments I immediately think lazy refuses to do the work.

Doesn't fit Ottawa needs at all

Never seen anywhere that Dumoulin can play RD and LD is set with Chabot, Sanderson and Brannstrom (+ plenty of prospects developping). Holden deal expires at the end of the season and he can at least play RD

Kapanen and Joseph swap is lateral at best, just that KK is a bit more expensive and has less term left

2nd for 4th swap is really unattractive here
