Habs won't move Anderson for less then a 1st and they'd still likely want a prospect with that 1st.

Calgary will get back on track on their own, not the time to sell young assets off yet

    Do you even hear yourself?

The Habs will probably have to pay a first to offload that monstrosity of a contract.

He's a guy with one 40-point season in his career with a 0.44 PP/G making $5.5 million in a league where almost every team is cap crunched.

Habs fans are the only people that think he has any value whatsoever.

Unless you're offering up something like Coronato (which presumably ain't happening), the first piece for a max retained ROR is that 23 1st. No way around it.

Look at MTL return for guys like Chiarot alias #6 dman, Lehkonen alias 3rd or 4th liner, Romanov #6 dman, Kulak #6-7 dman, etc. All those guys were seen from other fans like players who won’t return good assets. The worse asset we got from one of those guys was a 2nd Round pick and a 7th for Brett Kulak

Don't know how many times I have to say this on this site but here I go again:

THE NHL IS RUN BY A OLD SCHOOL BOYS CLUB, THEY LIKE PLAYERS OVER 6'0 THAT SKATE FAST, EVEN IF THEY DONT DO MUCH ELSE

Hate it all you want, everyone on this site can hate it but until teams stop giving up assets for guys like Foligno, Chairot, Reaves etc they will be wrong on estimating those players value.

Players that throw their weight around and grind down opponents are certainly valued and that doesn't show up on the scoresheet (but shows up in hits). Power forwards are valued. That being said Anderson seems overpayed by about 1m. I think a late 1st is a reasonable ask but prob not a good prospect too as his contract hurts his value

He has never cracked 50pts and is on the wrong side of 28, and on a 5.5x5 contract. Sorry no 3rd liner is worth that. You will need to pay to dump his contract or take a hockey trade for another underperformer. None of his stats support the insane valuation Habs fans have of him. It's soley based off what Montreal paid to get him.

Over paid by more then 1m in my mind but that didn't stop teams from offering a 1st plus for him. One of the rumors was even the Islanders 13th overall was offered and the Habs said no to Anderson for it but was willing to say yes to Romanov for it.

So the offer would have to be fairly significant

Great to hear what I already know. The only part you're wrong about is how NHL GMs value him. It's already known that offers have come in for him that the Habs have turned down. Hate it or love it NHL GMs value guys like Anderson and if the Habs do move on from him they will get a significant haul for him.

You don't have to like that fact but Habs fans are correct in expecting good value for him and the evidence for that comes from multiple NHL experts and sources saying teams have showed interest.

That's not an argument. "GMs were interested in him at the trade deadline last year" Wow. That's not indicative of his trade value. He is 3 years removed from his best season of 47PTS. His career pts/g is only 0.44, and he is 28 years old. Statistical regression mean he will decline past 28....and you think paying him 5.5MM for the next 5 years improves Calgary? Lucic's cap comes off the books next year and goes towards weegar and Huberdeau's extensions so who is Calgary trading to keep Josh Anderson? They are already overpaying for Blake Coleman and don't need to overpay for another 3rd liner. His numbers don't like:

None of those "sources" support any valuation. His numbers don't justify your argument. Cap constraints dont justify your argument. In fact, your argument is purely anecdotal and speculative based off rumours of a high value.

Ok so don't listen to anyone who talks to the GMs directly and only listen to a random person online?

Why even have experts who talk directly to the guys making the deals, might as well just post Twitter experts who DM teams their trade ideas.

Like come on, I get you don't like it, you don't have to but ignoring the basic facts of NHL GMs is only going to make trade values confusing for you.

None of the NHL "insiders" said Josh Anderson is valued at a 1st and a high prospect, and even if they did, it doesn't change the cap reality. If Calgary traded for him, then they would have to shed his 5.5M salary, at minimum, next year. Trading Lucic means nothing because his cap hit is fully absorbed by weegar and Huberdeau's extensions. These are basic facts, not opinions from Twitter. Anderson's stats are facts, not opinions. His age is a fact, not an opinion. So if your "insiders" are choosing to ignore that, then you need to question the value of that opinion. Moreover, no reputable insider has recently stated that Anderson is valued as high as so many Habs fans are desperate to have him valued.

I think everyone just gets too caught up in "points". If he was a leading goal-scorer, he'd be making what Suzuki makes. It's funny when those who don't watch all the games try to analyze someone else's games. Analytics are great and all, but they don't tell the whole story. What people tend to miss with Anderson is that he is a valuable asset being a fast power-forward who can put up decent points for being rotated through 2nd & 3rd line. Not only that, he creates turnovers and creates plenty of opportunities. For example, the analytics don't tell if his linemates are in the right places to convert from the opportunities. He's not a bad player at all and I agree with being paid like 1m over, but other than that, he proves his worth. Everyone just assumes that if you're not lighting it up, then you're not good. That's absurd because everyone has their play-style and roles on the team. To say you'd rather have Lucic over Anderson...come on now, talk about age (when 28 isn't even that old). I think what the other person is saying is that Anderson does have value and GM's would want someone like him, a 1st? Not sure, but something decent in return would come back. I don't watch Flames games, so I don't comment on who's ass and not ass because they can play an important role that I don't see on NHL Network's highlight reels.

As for help on this to the creator, I think there are too many pieces in the trade. Can probably get away with a decent prospect with a 2nd & 3rd
