Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 17, 2022
Published: Nov. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just ideas still hard to tell who will be selling and who will be playing well enough to trade for at this stage
Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander ($1,500,000 retained)
TOR
  1. Blais, Samuel
  2. Pajuniemi, Lauri
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (COL)
  4. 2024 5th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
He seems to have fallen out of favor in Toronto and he has good underlying numbers so take a shot on him.

Leafs get the grit they seem to be wanting a decent sniper prospect who could be a good middle 6 scorer and a solid draft pick for kerfoot and one for retention which males the cap roughly even
2.
NYR
  1. Barbashev, Ivan
  2. Rosén, Calle
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (STL)
STL
  1. Jones, Zachary
  2. Kravtsov, Vitali
Additional Details:
Two solid prospects for two solid depth guys and a pick to even it out

As a Ranger fan, I have to wonder how much trade value Kravstov has. Not much IMO since he hasn't done anything at the NHL level but get hurt over and over.

I still think he has some value and packaged with Jones I think that value is fair. Kravtsov is a good player but has struggled with injuries his entire career including the KHL. I think he can still be a solid 20-25 goal guy if he hits his stride in a middle 6 role but he will need to stay healthy. Maybe that pick gets down graded to a 4th or 5th but I dont think the value is too far off

I don't hate the package there, though - St. Louis can plug Kravstov into their middle 6 as a potential Barbashev replacement, turn a 28 year old LHD into a 22 year old one, and get a little pick as a bonus in case one of those prospects doesn't pan out. Also gives some upgrades to a Rangers team in a better spot to make the playoff push currently.

Honestly, both these trades are far too logical for CF lol

I could see a scenario where the Blues might want to try their hand at getting Kravtsov to finally put it all together, but his value is pretty shaky at this point - maybe a 2nd if you catch the right GM. However, I can't imagine they'd have any interest in Jones. They have enough small LDs for one roster.

So... what's your price for just Kravtsov?

Ehh back up, sir. The extra pick is going from STL to NYR. Not the other way around. And as I noted above, Jones would not be of much interest to the Blues. It doesn't hold logic for the Blues.

Ah, my mistake! I think the deal's a no-go then - I think two prospects & a mid-rounder to St. Louis would be more in line with the value for both those guys they're sending to New York (with the obvious caveat that the Blues gotta be selling in the first place)

How dare you trade for STL’s best defenseman! (I’m only partially kidding)

If the Blues would do it, I think the Rangers should jump on it, but I doubt they would accept. With Kravstov's history of pouting, plus his fragility, and lack of any real production when he has played, I just can't see him having much trade value.

Ah you are one of those "leaf fans" posing as a fan to come on here and say every horrible trade is a good one somehow.

I don’t really care about the pick if takes an extra third or fourth to get the Rangers those 2 i dont care

As for Jones that makes sense I wasn’t entirely sure of the blues needs so I included him. What do you think the Rangers would have to add to Kravtsov even out the value for Rosen and Barbashev. I really like Kravtsov and think if he stays healthy he can be a 20 goal scorer but thats just my opinion

He seems to need a change of scenery and the leafs would gain ~2 mil in cap to go out for a bigger add. I know Dubas and Keefe like Kerfoot but he does have a big cap hit and has struggled out of the gate. If the leafs want to acquire a player with a larger cap hit to solidify that top line he needs to go and not many teams have the cap space to take it on fully

Ummm... I'm really not sure they bother with trading Rosen, he does his job for the minimum. As for Barby, I'm not sure. If the slump was just a weird blip and they keep looking good, he's probably not going anywhere unless something they can use sooner rather than later comes back. If the ship goes sideways but he continues playing well individually, then he could be had for maybe in the late 1st/early 2nd/B+ prospect range. It's a little tricky because Jones is easily the best skater of the prospects NYR might actually part with, and the rest need some work in that area. Like the Blues might salivate over Robertson if he was a + skater - but he's only average, so I dunno.

Btw you didn;t answer. What would your price for just Krav be? I actually saw him play in person in Russia, and his ways and means out on the ice always intrigued me.

The reason I targeted those 2 because they're expiring, sure Rosen does his job and Brabashev has the potential for a good season but that wouldnt matter to the blues if theyre still sitting outside of a playoff spot which seems likely.

As for Kravtsov’s value it would have to be a player who the Rangers could use. While I think given his injuries and lack of performance in North America he is worth around a 2nd i would only trade him for a valuable player coming back the other way not just a pick.

Hahaha what??? They're one game under .500 with games in hand on most Western teams, and multiple games in hand on five Pacific teams.

Teams that under 500 by Thanksgiving normally don't make the playoffs, thats why I said likely not sure, they could still make it but with how they are playing I don't see it is as likely.

He's spent most of the season on the 2nd line. Like I said, mostly made up.
