This is a mighty interesting deal imo

I think it would have to come with a extension for Horvat

I haven't seen any rumor linking Bo Horvat to Carolina, Especially not for Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Carolina's 1st round pick.

Given the uncertainty of KK's play and his contract extension, there would need to be another piece added imo

One Mike Johnson article saying Horvat might land in Carolina and now we get these garbage proposals. Johnson doesn’t know what he is talking about. The rumor of KK being moved is complete and utter bull crap. Considering that KK has allowed Svech and Necas to elevate their offensive play, something that Trocheck couldn’t do, and now you want to throw Horvat in on that line. Horvat is more offensive and less defensive than Trocheck. Svech and Necas numbers will just end up going back to where they were with Trocheck or even lower. Worst case scenario, KK just becomes another P. Danault, and that isn’t a bad thing.

Canucks would like the trade better if KK wasn't included.

Bahahah, no. That contract long term is going to be incredible value to the Canes. He's not a 2C. But Kotkaniemi is the PERFECT 3C. Given that he's still only 22 and still has time to develop and become more, there's 0 reason to trade him unless the return is WAY better than a rental 2C.

This is a yikes take hahaha. In no world is KK worth more than 3m (and he isnt even playing to that level in year 1 of the contract), the fact its a max term at 66% higher than that is just a gross overpayment... the guy is 3.5 years removed from his career high of *check notes... 34 points

Bahahahah no. He's well worth his deal buddy. He's generating more offense than any other center on the Canes. Defensively, he's been the most dominant Cane, and he's been one of the best in the NHL. Take a look bud.

Oh, you also say he's 3.5 years removed from his career high in points? Yet he had a career high in goals last year and would have beaten his point pace if Eller wasn't a dirty POS! Go off buddy whatever fits your narrative.

Some habs fans have brains. I want to see if this one does. Some admit they saw the value in Kotkaniemi. Most don't because Montreal but still.

Hoookay buds, whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep better at night. There is a reason nobody likes the contract except for KK... and you, apparently.

It would actually absolute best case scenario

Danault is a premium 2-way center. His Selke finishes the last 4 seasons : 7, 6, 6, 8

Bud, a lot of people like that Kotkaniemi contract. Just people that don't know anything about the value of defensive hockey don't like it. Enjoy your copium. As you said, whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep better at night!

My brother in our lord and savior, Jesus Christ, you don't pay nearly $40m for defence from a 3C... take it from someone who watched Jay Beagle and Antoine Roussel after he watched Brandon Prust and Brandon Sutter.

Except... Beagle is fine defensively. Sutter was eh. Kotkaniemi is being brought in to replace Staal. He's FANTASTIC defensively but he also generates a ton of chances. Kotkaniemi cannot seem to get a clean shot off. That's not all too different from Jordan Staal's hands being cut from the same stone as Michelangelo's David. If you cannot see the value in this Kotkaniemi deal, that's a you problem.
