Description
Just interested to see how respective fan bases value this trade. My assumption here is that Nylander has a higher value than Mangiapane, but Toronto needs a defensemen. I would have suggested weegar, but he just resigned. So if Hanifin moves salary needs to come back. Sandin doesn't have the same value so I added Robertson and Philips to balance the trade. Open to suggestions on what would make this a clean hockey trade.

Interesting Proposal

I'd have Ritchie & Lewis in over Lucic & Rooney though

Leafs say no, they aren't moving Nylander. This needs to stop

Might be somewhat of fair trade, but a couple things. Leafs are taken on more cap with 5.,8m Mangi and 4.9m Hannifan compare to 7m Nylander and 1.4m Sandin. Phillips isn't really an NHL prospect but Robertson sure it. But the part of the trade I disagree with, despite the number of CF posts......the Leafs really don't need a LHD...even with Muzzin gone.
Reilly, Giordano, Sandin, Benn, even Mete and Kral are LHD. Now if Andersson could be worked into the trade....the Leafs need RHD, if not now, next year.
Besides it could be argued that Nylander has been the Leafs best offensive player. If the Leafs have weakness this year so far, it's lack of goal production.
KingofRnR liked this.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems like the Flames and Leafs could both benefit from a trade, but it's profoundly difficult to find the right pieces. Anderson is a stud top RD on a low AAV and young. I had used him in a package deal for Marner and only on Leafs fan didn't lose their mind. Replacing Hanifin for Anderson would throw this trade heavily in favour of the Leafs.

Both teams need a shake up. The Leafs probably more so given the increasing expectations of the fan base.

Value aside, downgrading from an offensive standpoint is the furthest thing from what the Leafs should be doing right now.

Love the idea of Mangiapane though.

I'll disagree about the Leafs needing a shake up. Seems like fans like to blame the bottom enders. Really this season it's Marner and Matthews that haven't been playing their contract.
Leafs are 8th in GAA, despite injuries to Muzzin, Liljgren has just returned about missing five weeks, and now Brodie is out. Plus missing time with their two starting goalies.
Don't think matters to much to the Leafs where they finish in the standings....as long as they make the playoffs. Either way looks like they play either Tampa, Florida, Boston in the first two rounds. Home ice advantage, really not that important. Having few injuries and playing well in April and May, that's important to the Leafs and really all teams.
